Love the food best Oxtail in the city, however you have to get it to go. The most uncomfortable eating space, small seat too tight to the table. Its like visiting your child's school.

Hmm, well

I work pretty much across the road. My employees come here regularly as do I for a quick bite. For that it is fine. I have the jerk chicken and often I have to sift through it for the little bits of chipped bones. The sauce is a little canned and the minimum 10 bucks on interac is a little out of this world these days, especially since the food is cheap I did it one day and ended up throwing out most of my lunch as I couldn't finish it. I actually don't find the service all that friendly either. Meh so I am indifferent.

Good food!

I saw the most recent review on Restaurantica for the Markham area is for George's, so I thought I'd add my thoughts. I just to live just a few blocks down the street so I used to visit fairly often, and was there a couple weeks ago. I've never tried the fish, so it may be gross like someone else commented, I don't know. However I think the jerk pork is great, and friends of mine agree. Their curry dishes are also good. As others have mentioned, the hardo bread and patties are really good too. (Though not good FOR you of course so eat in moderation.) There is a small shop beside the restaurant where you can buy boxes of frozen patties and other stuff. The decor is pretty lousy (it's kinda a dive) but it's good food and relatively inexpensive. So don't take a date there or expect anything fancy (I definitely wouldn't describe it as "fancy"!!) but it's good food. Note that it gets pretty busy around lunchtime (seems like lots of people who work in the area go there for lunch) and it gets tough to find parking from around noon to 1pm.

Fritters were horrible

We love coming here for the patties, but thats about it. The Salt Fish Fritters are NASTY! Since when did Fritters look like circular dough balls? And they have maybe fish oil in it, but no real salt fish. Tasted like I was eating a ball of whole wheat bread. You may want to order it to just try it, it was an experience to remember. My wife and I put it in our mouths, gagged then spat out the fritters in an instant. lol. We still laugh about how nasty it was to this day. But we love the PATTIES! So we still go there for that and sometimes hardo bread.

Great Lunch Place

I go to George's at least once a week for lunch and I have never ever been dissapointed. They have West Indian and "Canadian Food" there, but I always get one of the Jerks or Curries. The portions are out of this world and the taste is up there too. The staff is very friendly and I still get a chuckle when I hear them talk as they are West Indian Chinese. I am not used to seeing someone that looks asian speak with a West Indian accent. The amenities have a little bit to be desired, but those who have read some of my other reviews will know that this is the last thing I consider when I chose where to eat. Try the Jerk Pork on rice with gravy; it's absolutely out of this world. I absolutely reccomend this place for anyone looking to get some delicious, plentifull, and fast food.

George's Tastee is right up the street from me. I...

George's Tastee is right up the street from me. I go there very often to pick up baked goods. It's not the best bakery around, but I go mainly out of convenience. Some of the food is very good; their Jamaican patties are extremely high quality, and should be tasted if you get the opportunity. Their breads are always fresh and wholesome. I like those. But there are some things that are not so good. The cookies are certainly nothing special. The apple strudel is filled with some sort of weird custard-like substance, and as a result it tastes terrible. One thing I really like about George's is the service. The people at the counter are very friendly and quick to fulfill your order. Overall, George's is a pretty decent place. Certainly the best in the area.
