Great new spot, food was delicious, service very attentive, huge screens for sports.

More bar than grill....

We went on a Sunday, and were among two other tables. Amid the smell of stale beer (presumably from the evening before?) and sitting at a table in the middle of nowhere, it was a lovely atmosphere. Nevertheless the food was pretty good. Fries were crisp and dipping sauces interesting. Pasta was super spicy - I LOVED it, with a good amount of veggies (a touch overcooked) and simple grilled chicken, as requested. The lamb burger was fine, though a bit dry. We skipped desserts, not wanting to linger with the stale beer smell any longer than necessary. Maybe it's better on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday night? We may try again, that pasta was worth it.

Great atmosphere!

I have only been here a few times in the late hours to have a few drinks and play pool.. Not sure what it's like during the day. Everything here is great...except for the bouncers who enjoy kicking out anyone they can just so they can feel powerful. I had a great time but would never go back because of the security.

Great for a weekend brunch

My sisters and I went here last weekend for brunch and we had a very nice time. I had the ‘big city diner’ which was 3 eggs any style (I had them over easy), with bacon, white toast and delicious hash brown potatoes. It was the classic breakfast done to perfection. My younger sister had the fresh apple/cinnamon french toast and she said it was very tasty. My other sis had the eggs benedict (she always gets that) and they were a quite good as well! She loved the bechamel sauce. We’ll definitely come back here cause it’s close to home, delicious, and not bad on a tight budget either..

Delicious seafood here

My boyfriend and I didn’t know what we wanted to eat so we split a whole bunch of food items… we had the garlic shrimp, calamari with spicy mayo for apps, and linguini del mare to share for our main course. It was all SO good! We didn’t even realize that all we ordered was seafood, but we definitely weren’t disappointed. Next time we go back we’ll be sure to order a few different items.. a friend of mine told me that their pizza was unreal and quite big. This is also a good place to watch a game – we came here for the women’s world cup finals and it was busy! We’ll definitely be back soon.

Great Place to go for a date!

I went to Safari a few Saturdays ago for a second date. I met a guy a few weeks before,actually at Safari but in the downstairs lounge. We decided to go back and have dinner. We arrived at 8pm and the dining room was on a wait list. We sat at the bar and had a Barking Squirrel lager ( A microbrew from Guelph) and a signiture "Safaritini" called the Hip Coconut, which was DELICIOUS! Our table was ready in about 15 mins and the hostess escorted us to our seats. She opened our menu's for us, told us who our server would be and pointed out the washrooms, she was cute and friendly! Our server came over shortly after and guided us through the "Rib Rageous" features and told us about the wine menu. As we were looking she came over and asked us if we had any questions and proceeded to tell us a little bit about the history of Safari and why there food is so great!!! They have 4, yes 4 papered Chefs in their kitchen and everything is made from scratch and prepared fresh daily. After she told me that I knew that whatever we chose would be awesome! We chose the angry mussels as an appetizer (which was served with fresh bread and housemade hummus) which had just a bit of a kick, but was so tasty and a great portion to share. For our main courses I had the Linguini Del Mare which i will now forever call the BEST seafood pasta in town. It had giant shrimp, mussels and calamari with a white wine and broken tomato sauce called "provencal", and I would definitely order it again. My date had the lamb burger with asiago cheese and sweet potato fries as his side and it came with a dijon mayo. I had a couple of his sweet potato fries and they were YUM!! Oh ya! My date and I decided we wanted wine for dinner (red) and our server recommended Errazuriz Merlot from Chile which would go well with both our meals. I had heard great things about the desserts, Even though we were so full from dinner, we wanted to share one, so my date asked our server. She told me that their dessert chef makes all the desserts from scratch every week and that the butter tart was her favourite. We ordered it and it came all melty and yummy and is served with kawartha lakes vanilla icecream. That dessert is to DIE FOR!! Overall the date was great, but I've got to give Safari credit, the atmosphere, ambiance, food and service definitely helped make the date a sucess....I'll say this, even if the guy doesnt last, my love for the butter tart will so i will be back for SURE!!!!!
