HELLO TORONTO!!

I grew up in toronto near the spadina corridor, this is by far the finest real chinese food you can find in london. beef with black bean sauce? spicy but not over powering vinegar peppery flavour, pork fried rice with real chinese red pork (cured) cantonese noodles with bite not mushy or over seasoned, i am a person that grew up living on this type of food and i'm seriously impressed. they don't take debit so be prepared to pay cash or credit.. i suggest you pick up your food to experience the wonderful customer service.

I almost hate to do this....

This is, by far, the very best Chinese food in London, Ontario. I've only had something near this good in Chinatown, Toronto - and even that was only as good - not better. I almost hate to do this, as it is a very well kept secret - meaning I can always get a table, and take-out services are prompt. I'm afraid that if too many people find out about Kambie, I'll be standing in line a la the Keg or something. Anyway - check it out. Just wait til I'm done, ok?

I always come here with my family, as my family all enjoy authentic chinese food. This place offers great cuisine from Hong Kong. The oyster hot pot is a must. They also prepare king crab and lobster very well. This is one of the establishments in London that you see chinese people dine at regularly. So you know you'll get the real thing here. The prices are reasonable. The service is typical of a chinese restaurant in this price range. The atmosphere is typical of a chinese restaurant in that when its busy you can hear the chefs chopping and the woks clanging.

Best Chinese Food in Canada

The fine family running Kambie are terrific people and amazing chefs! My ex-wife and I had them cater a wedding dinner party for us. The food was out of this world. They even prepared the father's (chef's) personal family favourite. I haven't lived in London for 6 years, but I ate there many, many times and the food was ALWAYS outstanding! I still dream about the Szechuan Beef Hot Pot as it is spicy and sizzling hot when you get it. The beef with ginger and green onion is also out of this world. I am hoping to go to London in November for a conference and my very first food stop will be Kambie! Please go and eat there. You will not be disappointed in the food!

The boss was from HongKong, they had a big restaurant there. Some of the dishes maybe modified to Canadian Chinese food, but it is still very authentic. You will definately regret if u never tried it.

This restaurant is terrible. We had a New Year...

This restaurant is terrible. We had a New Year Party in this place 2 years ago. Before the meal, they agreed to charge $20 per person for the dinner. But on the day of the dinner, they demand more $ because they hired someone to serve us. What's wrong with them? You hired someone then that's ur problem, why should I be responsible for your salary expense?

The food was all white because no soy was used...

The food was all white because no soy was used, which is surprising given some of the other reviews. There was no spice or flavor to any of the dishes except the duck. The shrimp was served with tons of cooked celery, very strange. This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had because nothing had any spice or flavoring added, out of maybe 25+ Chinese restaurants I've been too. It was just simple stir fry. The chicken with oyster sauce was OK, but very bland. I definitely wont be giving it a second chance.

This has to be the most authentic Canton style...

This has to be the most authentic Canton style resturant in London. The taste was just right as if I was eating a home cooked meal with my family in Toronto. And for those of you that know what I'm talking about, this place has good 'wok hay'. The service is really good. The dinnerware aren't thrown at you like some other chinese resturants and you're not herd out the door if you only order one or two dishes. Just a tip though, unless you're the kind of person that thinks 'sweet and sour' chicken balls is chinese food, stay away from their English set dinners at the back of their menu. Those items are never eaten as apart of a traditional chinese meal. If you're going to to try REAL chinese food, pick from the chinese menu. The part that has chinese written on the left margin of the page with english descriptions on the right.

My family and I go to Kambie for great-tasting authentic Chinese food every chance we get. The food is truly amazing and we've recommended Kambie to many friends who have not been disappointed and have now become regulars as well. Small and quaint it's easily some of the best Chinese food we've had anywhere in Canada. The pan-fried wontons are a must.

What this restaurant is lacking in ambiance is...

What this restaurant is lacking in ambiance is made up by reliable and excellent authentic chinese cuisine. My family loves the black bean beef, pan fried wontons, hot and sour soup, and all hot pots are amazing. Servers are friendly but when busy orders can sometimes be confused and forgotten. We have learned to order by number and not name the item and things work out better. My family has never been disappointed by a meal and we go 2 to 4 times a month. Enjoy!

I think this is the best Chinese restaurant in London. The place in itself needs a new coat of paint and their parking lot isn't very very small and cramped. But the food is very fresh and tasty and the service is very prompt. One note though, I've never had a good chicken dish at Kambie. Their beef and seafood dishes are incredible though.

The food is alright if you like Canadian Chinese food. The flavours of most of the dishes we ordered smacked of soy sauce and more soy sauce. It has a way of hiding flavours with salt. Try adding some zip or spice to the dishes.

Okay, to be fair, I have had chinese food in...

Okay, to be fair, I have had chinese food in Toronto's Chinatown and tried numourous westernized chinese restaurants and frankly the food here wasn't my cup of tea. Also, I don't like chicken balls, egg rolls and those chicken wings. That's not real chinese food. I would say that this restaurant leans more towards the westernized version of chinese food. Oh yes, one tip, as I saw a table where some folks ordered their own dish, and one poor person just ate a huge plate of fried rice. The whole experience is supposed to be shared by ordering a few dishes and trying a bit of each. Instead order steamed white rice to enhance the flavour of the other dishes. Fried rice belongs with chicken balls and egg rolls. regards, T Lee
