There’s nothing to start the weekend like a delicious brunch. And when it’s one that is made by someone else and there’s delicious drinks involved, it’s even better. Even if you’re a Halifax local, or a regular visitor to the city, you’ll be doing yourself a favour by checking out some of these delicious brunch spots!

Envie A Vegan Kitchen

1
5775 Charles St, Halifax, NS B3K 1K7

Whether you’re vegan, or just had a rough night last night and feel like you should be putting something healthy in your body for a change, this place knows how to do brunch. So much so, that if I didn’t tell you it was a vegan restaurant, you’d probably never guess that the sausage in their home-style breakfast wasn’t really sausage at all!

The Coastal Café

2
2731 Robie St, Halifax, NS B3K 4P1

This café calls itself a “relaxed, easygoing café, that flies by the seat of their pants.” Based on the weekend line-ups though, they have everything figured out just right. The brunch menu is extensive, the coffee is spot on, and even if you have to wait for a table, it’s totally worth it.

Elle's Bistro

3
1678 Barrington Street, Halifax, NS B3J 2A2

Known for their unique selection of burgers, this place knows how to do brunch too. In fact, they do it all day long, serving everything from pancakes and French toast to all things egg and traditional. Come in at 9, or come in at 3, and whatever you order, you’re sure to walk away completely satisfied. Just be prepared to wait in a line-up no matter when you show up!

Tempo Food and Drink

4
1875 Barrigton St, Halifax, NS B3J 3L6

I run by Tempo every day on my morning run, and it’s never fuller than when I pass on a Saturday and Sunday morning. No matter what time it is, when brunch is on, the tables are full. And with as much on offer for brunch as Tempo has, there’s sure to be something for everyone, from eggs and pancakes to fruit smoothies and porridge. What are you waiting for? Make your reservation!

Le Bistro By Liz

5
1333 South Park Street, Halifax, NS B3J 2K9

This place has it all figured out: your brunch drink – your choice of mimosa, Caesar or bloody Mary – is included with your brunch entrée! What a perfect way to kick off or end your weekend. The food is pretty standard, with all your traditional brunch items, but for a drink and food, you really can’t beat the prices. Good deal all around!

Steve O Reno's Cappuccino

6
1536 Brunswick St, Halifax, NS B3J 2G2

Whether you need breakfast, brunch, or just a hearty meal and some coffee, Steve has got you covered. Not only do you have a great menu selection, with specials made only on the weekends for brunch, but you also won’t be disappointed with the coffee: it’s brewed fresh with locally roasted beans, and they turn it into some pretty great lattes and cappuccinos.

No matter how good your coffee is at home, sometimes it’s just nice to go out. Whether you’re grabbing your cup of joe on your daily morning commute, or are looking for a place where you can sit down on a Sunday morning and spend a few hours poring over the paper and catching up on emails, this list has you covered. Set the alarm early, because coffee is calling, and these places know how to do it right!
Whether it’s your first date, or your 21st, it’s nice to go some place a little different, and maybe completely new to celebrate your time together. If you’re new to the city, start at the top and work your way through 10 dates. If you’re a seasoned Haligonian, pick your favourite, get dressed up and head out on date night. In a city surrounded by the ocean and known for it’s craft beer, you can’t go wrong!
For a smaller city, Halifax is pretty vegetarian friendly. Even if there are not heaps of restaurants to choose from, what the city lacks in quantity, it makes up in quality, boasting some delicious eating establishments. Even if you aren’t vegetarian, maybe you should make your next meal a little heavier on the veggie side with some of these delicious options.
