Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. My girlfriend and I went up to tobermory ontario a few weeks ago. I have never had such amazing customer service in my entire life. Our server was super kind, funny and made lots of jokes to keep us entertained through our meal. Went in for drinks, seemed like a decent place. Only complaint is that the music is just far too loud, but that seems common in small pubs like Peddler's. Word of advice, if you go at night, bring cash or a credit card as they don't use their Interact machine past 10:30PM, and you'll have to use the on site private ATM, which means a high service fee to use, as well as another one to your bank. - TD Canada Trust charges as much as $3.50 per transaction for using another machine that isn't theirs. In short, it's a good place to go if you want to get hammered and listen to live music. Read more
