Toronto's New Face of Bridal

LoversLand is an alternative bridal and fashion shop located on Ossington Avenue in the West Queen West neighbourhood. Undeniably one-of-a-kind and fashion forward, LoversLand offers a cultivated selection of gowns and ready-to-wear dresses.

The shop opened in 2014 and is co-owned by friends Danielle Gulic, Trish Spencer and Yvonne Reidy, who met through their partners. “We realized there was this real miss in the bridal market,” explains Trish. “We wanted to develop a shop that allowed anyone to come in. LoversLand is a place where brides can keep coming back after their big day. We want to change the way people think of bridal.”

A Shop for Lovers

LoversLand is a romantic space with a rustic-chic vibe. High ceilings and lots of natural light keep the room open and airy. The front end of LoversLand focuses on wedding inspired gifts, clothing, books, bathing suits, lingerie and accessories for both women and men. “We want to welcome men and keep them in mind,” says Trish. “We carry a range of menswear products and accessories.”

Trinkets, lights and plants adorn the walls and items are artfully arranged on display shelves. The LoversLand team makes it their mission to create a laid-back atmosphere. “There’s this idea that bridal has to be stressful,” explains Danielle. “We want our customers to have fun and make bridal not as daunting.”

Inside 'The Haven'

Cultivating an inspiration space was an important part of the LoversLand mission. In the back of the shop the team built The Haven, a dreamy dressing room draped in linen and lace, designed for shoppers to enjoy the experience of being a bride. Bridal appointments in The Haven are an incredibly personal experience, and give brides-to-be the chance to try on gowns from LoversLand’s offbeat, alternative selection.

“Our styles can be described as boho-elegant,” says Trish. “And we’re bringing in designers that haven’t been to Canada yet.” Among the LoversLand selection, clients can find Ganni, Mira Mandic, For Love and Lemons, Rebecca Schoneveld, twobirds Bridesmaid and Rue De Seine.

A Bridal Community

LoversLand offers trunk shows and workshops, recently hosting a lingerie workshop and bra fitting seminar with Toronto-based lingerie designer Fortnight Lingerie, as well as a flower workshop with Coriander Girl. LoversLand partners with Toronto businesses and is quickly becoming a go-to for engagement ring, floral and catering recommendations.

For all things love, brides and shoppers alike will be happy to find a laid-back, warm atmosphere at LoversLand.
