Bevo bar + Pizzeria

A Popular Place

BEVO Bar + Pizzeria, with its neon-lit bar and DJ lounge, is anything but a stereotypical Old Montreal tourist restaurant. Opened in May 2012 by brothers Tony and Costa Antonopoulos, the BEVO Bar + Pizzeria has quickly become a must-visit in Old Montreal.

Nestled in the heart of Saint Vincent Street — which comes alive when it's closed to cars during warm weather months — the eatery, which is popular with locals and workers of the district alike, is never empty.

There's always a good excuse to go to the restaurant. We're doing this for the customers and we want everyone to leave with a smile. - Alain Campeau, operations manager

A Must-Visit Urban Bar

"We have all kinds of customers," explains operations manager Alain Campeau, "but over the years, we've built up a loyal customer base." The restaurant, which occupies two floors of a 19th century stone building, has been designed to accommodate up to 200 people, not counting the terrace, which can hold another 80 during the summer months. So it's the place to go for anyone looking for a unique experience, for a family celebration, a party with friends, for after-work drinks or a romantic rendez-vous.

On Thursdays, BEVO Bar + Pizzeria is the favoured spot for a delicious after-work cocktail, and on Saturdays for an end-of-night snack, with pizza cooked in a wood oven and music supplied by a DJ up until 2 a.m. But diners don't just come to BEVO for its cool atmosphere.

Traditional and Original Cuisine

At the BEVO Bar + Pizzeria, a pizza that's just out of the wood-fired oven is hard to resist. The Italian chef, Giovanni Vella, offers the classic margherita and marinara, or the black truffle burrata, made with products imported directly from Italy.

Also on the menu are traditional dishes like lasagna, risotto and osso buco, generous Italian cured meat and cheese platters and a multitude of antipasti to share. "And we always try to surprise our loyal customers with dishes that aren't on the menu," explains Giovanni. "If they like it, we add it to the menu."

The wine list is no after-thought and is carefully crafted by Eric, BEVO's maître d' who is always on hand with his best advice on how to pair each dish to perfection.

An Expert Team

If BEVO has been a tremendous success, it's largely thanks to the duo of Alain and Giovanni and to their team. "There's always a good excuse to go to the restaurant," says Alain. "We're doing this for the customers and we want everyone to leave with a smile." It's a challenge that BEVO Bar + Pizzeria has met with gusto.

"It's all about communication; we trust in each others' skills and support the main people," he explains. "But just like any relationship, it's not all unicorns and rainbows! The key is to talk to each other in order to make the best decisions."
