Meet the owner

Famous for its free and shell-it-yourself peanuts served at every table, Peanuts Sports Bar at the Carriage House Inn was showing its age when Lino Savino came up with a vision of change. Opened in 1976, the restaurant had been around for decades by the time Lino arrived in 2005, but it didn’t take him long to start putting in place a plan for the revamped Peanuts Public House.

“Coming here, I saw that the restaurant could use a facelift, a little change,” he says. “So we went about doing that and have seen some great success.”

You don’t have to stay at the hotel to enjoy Peanuts Public House, and those with a peanut allergy no longer have to fear: in addition to menu and venue changes, the peanuts in shells are no longer available. “You used to be able to just toss the shells on the ground,” Lino says. “That was fun, but not good for anyone with allergies. We still offer peanuts for free, though.”
