Especially For Pets

Calgary's family-owned Especially 4 Pets has been in business since 1989. Cori and Jason Giso are the third owners, having taken over from their friends in 2007. “We were spending a lot of time there when we weren’t working doing rescue events,” says Cori. “When they decided to sell it we thought it was a perfect opportunity to do something for a living that we were already doing in our free time.” The couple has maintained Especially 4 Pets’s level of service, ensuring clients have a one-stop shop for grooming, daycare, obedience or agility training, pet food and accessories.

Cori and Jason have four dogs of their own, two of them Rottweiler rescues the couple fostered and then adopted. “Anyone who comes into the store loves them," says Cori. "They are the shop dogs. We like to change the stereotype of what people think these dogs are all about.” In this vein, Especially 4 Pets makes a point of accepting all dogs. “We don’t judge them by their breed. We judge them by their temperament,” says Cori. “I don’t care if you have a Chihuahua or a Rottweiler. If they are a good dog and get along with people, we will take them. That’s something we’re really proud of.”
