Forty years ago, Irene Hawes opened the Highland Scottish Gift Shoppe because she needed to find bagpipe supplies for her children, Bill and Jeanie. As there was a lack of places to find what they needed in Calgary, Irene started importing the required items from Scotland directly. After all, only the best for her children who later became world-class pipers.

From this need, the Highland Scottish Gift Shoppe slowly evolved into an authentic highland outfitter for every price point, with a wide variety of products, namely kilts, accessories and Scottish jewellery. You won’t find any candy and souvenirs here. And with just over one third of Calgarians being of British decent, it’s no wonder this need has evolved into demand for a  bona fide Highland outfitter.
