If you’ve ever been lucky enough to attend a German birthday party, you’ll know that Germany boasts a stunning array of cakes and tarts for any occasion. Artistic Bake Shop in Edmonton offers a true-to-home taste that you can sample and enjoy any time of year.

In 1966, two Master Bakers from Germany, named Anton and Joseph Schwabenbauer, came to Edmonton and opened the original Artistic Bake Shop. In the early 1990s, Anton's son Perry and his wife Katherine took over the store while maintaining its emphasis on German breads and cakes.

“Anton and Joseph brought all the recipes with them from Germany,” says Katherine, “although we do have one Hungarian cake, too.” Named the “Dobos Torte”, Katherine says it’s their signature cake and one of their most popular items. But of course, there are also German bakery staples like Black Forest cake with dense sponge, sour cherries with kirsch and real whipping cream.

    the reason I didnt give 5 stars bc I think we always need to improve ... but this is the BEST bakery ! make the best danish !we love this bakery ! the breads are made right ! taste so good ... keep up the good work ... thanks
