Meet the owner

Oscar Lopez, one of Pampa Brazilian Steakhouse’s three partners, is intimately familiar with culture shock. At 10 years old, he left tropical El Salvador where it was 30 C and flew with his family to Edmonton, where it was –30 C. “Everything was different,” he says. “The snow, the cold, the language – it got dark at 4 pm. It was a huge culture shock, but because I was a kid, I didn’t have any issues with it; I embraced it.”

While that first bout of culture shock was undeniably challenging, it sparked a curiosity in Oscar. He wondered what it was like in other places and longed to find out. He’s travelled to nearly 50 countries, immersing himself in each culture as much as possible. “We go, we spend time with the people, we eat street food, we try to ingrain ourselves in the culture,” says Oscar. In fact, he met his wife during his trip to Brazil, where he came back in love with both a woman and an idea.

    Meat Delight!

A meat-lover's Nirvana! A huge salad bar to get you started but go light on it. There are 10 different types of meat being offered and not a bad one in the bunch. Be sure to try the frozen liqueur at the end of your meal. Reservations are a must for dinner.

    extremely friendly restaurant

Food was fantastic! All you can eat unique salad bar. The servers continuously walk around the restaurant with different meats on skewers cooked Brazilian style. They will slice off as much as you want. You have to be careful not to take too much of the one that is offered to you because there are more different types that will be offered to your table. Truly a wonderful taste experience. The owner waits until you have your dessert and then will come over, briefly ask about your meal but is fascinated about personally talking to you. A very refreshing experience. Everybody had a great friendly attitude. The price was cheap compared to the quality, amount of food and the attitude of everybody.

This fabulous, authentic churrasco restaurant whips up caipirinhas with Brazilian rum, fresh fruit and a hint of sugary sweetness. This classic Brazilian cocktail is muddled, then shaken with ice, and is ridiculously refreshing. Pampa serves a variety of fun flavours, including watermelon and chili pepper, passion fruit and citrus, raspberry and lime, and banana and cinnamon. If you prefer, you can ask for yours to be made with Brazilian Romanoff vodka or aged amber cachaça (rum) instead.
