I stopped by Sherlock Holmes because I couldn't...

I stopped by Sherlock Holmes because I couldn't find much as far as lunch in the vacinity for less than 20$. I was just looking for a quick bite. Saw a special for 12$: veal cutlet with mashed potatoes and peas. The peas were very obviously frozen peas with no effort to make them taste any better. The mashed potatoes were ok but easily forgettable, and the veal cutlet was decent but a bit too battered. I would not have been able to tell it was veal.. it tasted like a generic breaded meat to me.. probably not made in-house. A pint of Keith's at happy hour, which was watery and not cold cost me an extra 5$. Not that I expected a great culinary experience from a pub, but pair it with the grimy pub atmosphere and I just felt like it was a 20$ not so well spent. I would not go again for lunch. I was in a hurry .. the waitress was quite young and I would guess inexperienced; she seemed caught in the middle of awkward and sociable. Still, she was nice, friendly (I think) and understanding that I had to get out of there quick.. she even asked the cook how long it would take for the meal to cook and let me pay early. So I give service a 4/5.

Pass the pint at these British pubs in Edmonton

Pass the pint at these British pubs in Edmonton

Owner Patrick Devaney was one of the first to introduce Edmonton to a true British pub atmosphere in 1985. Since then, these pubs have become the go-to for after work pints, watching sports on the big screens with other fans, and everyone else in between. And, of course, they are known for their authentic fish and chips.
