Meet the owner

Since its inception in 1988 as one the province’s first private wine stores, Baseline Wine & Spirit Co. has been known as not only a retail store, but also an excellent resource for anyone looking to learn about and try new wines. After working in the store for several years, Che Bechard took over ownership of Baseline Wine & Spirit Co. in 1998, following his passion for wine. “I've loved wine since I was allowed to drink it,” he says. “Wine is a living thing – it changes over an hour or two. You can see the evolution of a wine through the night. That’s what I like.”

He also likes sharing his passion for wine with his customers. “There’s nothing better than recommending a few types of bottles and hearing how it made someone's night,” says Che. “It’s just a feeling you get when you’ve done a good job and you can provide a good service and people can enjoy the wine you suggest.”

    This store has a great selection and a very knowledgeable staff. They were able to find me a wine that no one else could and at a great price too!
