Patrick and Lisa Beecroft owners of Caffe Divano have a running joke; they tell people that their friends are awfully expensive. Their best friends all started as customers, but they had to open three locations in order to make the connections and form those relationships. Good thing is they're regular customers now — an added bonus to help defray their costs.

"We have incredibly loyal and supportive customers," says Lisa. "They bring their friends and spread the word and will be the reason for our success long term. They're committed to us, we're committed to them. We have real and authentic relationships with people and it's the best thing about our job."

It's all part of the coffee culture — communities forming within cafés. Just like their unofficial motto: you can meet a friend here or make a friend here.

    This little Klahanie treasure is great!

    Great atmosphere, coffee is good, it's always busy - what a great little place to grab a coffee and quick bite to eat right in the neighbourhood. The staff are very friendly. Try the chocolate cake/brownie thing - it's a huge piece, so share it - but so good!

    Caffe Divano is another coffee shop that we visit frequently and have also featured on our site. The family run cafe originally started out in 1999 as Cornerstone Cafe and Catering. They later changed their name to Caffe Divano and opened three new locations across the Lower Mainland. Expect a warm, inviting atmosphere where you can sit and comfortably enjoy a cup of java. Their baked goods are all made fresh in store and they make a mean chai latte.
