The first thing you'll notice when you enter Chocolate Arts is the delicious smell of chocolate! "We make everything here on the premises," explains owner Greg Hook. "We're located on a non-shopping street and that lets us have a larger footprint for our manufacturing area." Greg and his team also offer classes in chocolate-making in the kitchen as well as chocolate tasting and light lunches in the Chocolate Arts café.

Open since 1992, Chocolate Arts takes raw chocolate from suppliers in Belgium and France and creates delicacies filled with locally grown fruit or produce. "We buy 10 different varieties of chocolate and use different chocolates for different purposes," says Greg. "Our focus is to use as much organic, local fruit as possible in our creations. We work hard to make sure that when you bite into one of our chocolates, you can immediately identify the flavour."

Located in Kitsilano, Chocolate Arts is an upscale confectioner specializing in fine handcrafted chocolates. Chocolates are prepared in small batches using only high-quality ingredients and with no artificial flavours. Sweet lovers can stop by to select from a wide variety of luscious, unique chocolates and truffles that can be enjoyed individually or in mix-and-match box sets. The peanut butter bar is a popular pick, and we love the cappuccino ganache, matcha leaf, and rhubarb rhapsody. These aesthetically pleasing chocolate delights are a treat for all the senses.

Try Drunken Love to enjoy a rich hot chocolate paired with a bowl of red wine ice cream drizzled with red wine reduction. The Rocky Road to Love is topped with marshmallow and caramel, all accompanied by a handful of chocolate-covered candied almonds. Finally, Cherry O, Cherry O Baby is more of a deconstructed drink: imagine cherry panna cotta drenched with Chocolate Arts’ signature Allure hot chocolate.

As the name suggests, chocolates at this shop near Granville Island are as artistic as they are delicious. Wondrous little packages of everything from liqueurs to locally sourced fruit and nuts to purees and essences all made in-house are nestled within French or Belgian chocolate casings and finished in stunning shapes and designs. They even have a Robert Davidson designed series showcasing his famous Haida art. You’ll be wondering whether to eat it or mount it on your wall. Hint: the former.
