Meet the owner

As the only breakfast and lunch café located in Vancouver’s industrial district on north Clark Drive, Crème de la Crumb attracts an eclectic clientele with its hot and cold meals, artfully baked treats and specialty drinks for all tastes. “It’s a cool mix,” says owner Lydia Lai of her patrons, who range from “truck drivers to artists and everyone in between.”

The self-taught chef’s evolving menu ensures everyone leaves the bright, spacious eatery feeling nourished and inspired. Between 7 am and 5 pm each day, Crumb’s crisp white tables and coffee counter fill with customers, some who talk shop over a steaming bowl of soup and an apple-cheddar scone while others linger with a latte and cookie, watching Lydia work on elaborate creations in her open-concept kitchen.
