The Granville Island Public Market has absolutely everything you could possibly need for your picnic. But if you’re heading to the market for supplies, be sure to visit Oyama Sausage Co. Their house-made meats are the perfect picnic food and the foundation of a stellar portable charcuterie board. Oyama’s meats are great for sharing, especially if you sneak a bottle of wine along to complement the flavour. Round it out your meaty spread with a few choice cheeses from Benton Brothers and some fresh fruit from one of the market stalls.

In addition to having one of the best selections of cured meats and locally produced sausages in the city, Oyama is also home to an excellent array of fine cheeses to round out your charcuterie or dessert plates. Located on Granville Island, it’s a one-stop shop for all things decadent.

Granville Market crowds can get a crazy – especially around the holidays – but it’s worth taking a number and lining up to get charcuterie from Oyama Sausage Co. Anything from there is a good bet but the duck pate and local salami are some of my favourites. They have so many different flavours of sausages – it reminds me of my time living in England.
