Meet the owner

Andrea Nelson never thought she'd own a café with her best friend, Natasha Romero, until, all of a sudden, she did. The friends jumped at the chance to open Anchor Eatery in 2013 when a rare vacancy came up in West Vancouver, the bakery space inside the Bean Around the World on Marine Drive.

Neither Andrea nor Natasha had experience owning a business. But that didn't stop the pair from diving in head first. "We knew West Vancouver didn't have much in terms of health food or even a juice bar," she says. The bakery space became available and the rest – founding a cozy café specializing in health food – is history.

Nutritious and delicious acai bowls in Vancouver

Nutritious and delicious acai bowls in Vancouver

You’ll find three creative acai bowls in rotation at The Anchor in West Van. The Nalu is a frozen acai and coconut water sorbet topped with granola, strawberries and bananas, bee pollen, and a honey drizzle. For a thicker, creamier take, opt for the Hanuman made with almond butter and maca powder decked with granola, crunchy cacao nibs and banana. And if you’re looking to get your greens, the Mayan Gold (made with kale and apple juice) is a refreshing choice that also features a dusting of chia seeds, which are a great source of fibre and Omega-3s.
