So it’s my Wife’s Birthday and she loves the Taquitos at Jungle Jims. My Wife and I plus another couple we hang out with went to the hockey game then to Jungle Jim’s for dinner afterwards. At Jungle Jim’s we waited to be seated a little longer then I thought was necessary. The waitress was almost surprised to see us there, no big deal. When asked the party size, we told them we didn’t really have an exact number. Four of us were there, we were expecting 2 more, but there was a possibility of another 3 or 4 to follow. When we asked if we could just sit at the table by the door to insure that there was enough space, she said that we could easily fit 6 people in a booth and started walking away….we just said whatever and followed. The 4 of us ordered pretty much the same things. It being all you can eat wing night, the place was busier then we expected. But the all you can eat wings isn’t for everyone, unless your going to pack away 3 or 4lbs of wings you’re better off just getting an order of wings. 8 wings 4.99, all you can eat for 11.99. if you need more then 16 wings go for it but 16 is plenty for me. So we ordered 8 Honey Garlic wings, Chicken Quesadillas, and Chicken Taquitos….plenty of food for the 2 of us. The Wings were good but I prefer wings that are coated with sauce that you have to lick off your fingers, not plain wings with sauce that comes in a cup that’s too shallow to dip in. I was spreading the sauce on my wings with a butter knife before each bite. It was good but that’s too much work wings. They were good but I’d be happier with the "Our Compliments" brand wings that were in my freezer. The Taquitos, for those who don’t know, are tortillas filled with chicken, cheese, and a bbq sauce. They’re good and we get them every time we go. We’ve tried them at different places but these are the best ones that we’ve had. The Quesadillas are also very good. This is also a go to choice for us at any place we go and again Jungle Jims has one of the best. The only bad thing I have to say about this is I would prefer more chicken and less peppers. With every bit you seem to get 2 to 1 green peppers./chicken ratio. Half way through dinner 2 more people show up and now the booth has 8, which is a tight fit, why wouldn’t they just give us the tables? One of our friends shows up and orders the all you can eat wings and doesn’t finish the second plate…waste….but I’m sure he would have eaten more if he didn’t give into the peer pressure and order the suicide wings. 3 people at the table tired it and 2 of them cried and spent the next 10 mins in the bathroom soaking they’re mouths until we got them some milk….it was fun to watch but not something they’re ever going to try again I’m sure. Also if you handle the cup of sauce make sure you wash your hands good not just wipe them on a napkin; I sat in the booth with an ice cube on my eye for 10 mins after I absentmindedly touched my eye with suicide sauce on my finger….ouch. Total came to $35 and change.

The problem with Jungle Jim's in Saint John is...

The problem with Jungle Jim's in Saint John is that it needs a good cleaning. I don't think that it has been hosed down since people were allowed to smoke in restaurants many years ago. The decor is very stark and dismal, very tavern-like. Some of the food is good, but much of it tastes very pre-fab and salty.

Probably the Best Clubhouse Sandwich in Town...

Probably the Best Clubhouse Sandwich in Town. I thought I had been to a Jungle Jim's location in Dartmouth, NS, a few years ago, but maybe it was a different "jungle-theme" chain. Anyway, I dropped in for lunch one day and had just a quick meal; the Jungle Jim Clubhouse sandwich and fries, a beer. My waiter was pleasant and efficient, and my order arrived in good time. It was, after all, lunch-time downtown, so there were lots of people here. The clubhouse was on thick whole-wheat "Texas" bread, and it was absolutely delicious! This must be the best clubhouse in town! It's one of my standard orders in restaurants, and is a pretty good indication of the rest of the menu's quality. I had actually eaten at this location before, once or twice, and now I know why I returned once again. The fries were abundant and well-cooked; very, very good fries. I made a bit of an error on my beverage, however, (I had a "Rickard's White", which I found to be disgusting; nothing like the delicious "Blanche de Chamblis" I enjoyed in Québec City: That's a personal thing, though...) I should have had a local beer.) The décor is a bit touristy, but not too bad. I mean, it is supposed to be a "Jungle" theme, after all. Yes, I'll be back. Good food, good prices.
