Great food and wine, great service!
If you like Calamari this is the place for you.
Cafe Chianti is an old standby in Halifax. It's always been quaint and reliable. Their wine cellar has some very special selections, and their service is great if you allo0w them to spread their wings a bit. Our waiter seemed almost elated when we asked if they had any more special wine selections. He was delighted to share his more than adequate wine knowledge, and gave us the cellar tour! We had a surprising little Pinot Noir. We stuck to the classic dishes and they were delicious and professionally executed.

One may think of Café Chianti as more of a white tablecloth resto than a pizza joint. Indeed, celebrated chef Terry Vassallo is at the helm, with his Italian cuisine prepared with fresh, seasonal ingredients. But, there is also a more casual area by the bar where a pizza and glass of Chianti seem proper. Café Chianti has six pizzas on their dinner menu, all with intriguing and balanced flavours. There is a classic margherita, of course, amongst spicy, salty and smoky themes. And, it wouldn’t hurt you to try the calamari!
