Should've known when the place was empty at lunchtime on a Friday this was not a good sign. Ordered pad Thai as did my friend, we both agreed worst pad Thai over. Noodles rubbery and undercooked chicken grisly and tasteless. Was at this restaurant several years ago it was great, obviously no longer so. Will never go back. Server asked how the meal was when paying and I told her above and she never said anything. Go elsewhere!!

Absolutely hands ...
Absolutely hands dien the best Chinese food in Halifax! Great service too. Live that its not salty tasting. My favourite is their almond gai ding. Delicious!

Reliable, good food
I've mostly just done delivery with them, but I've never been disappointed with the food. Always hot and fresh when it arrives, driver is polite. The few times I've eaten in the restaurant, it was clean and the staff was friendly.

I went to Zen Chinese Cuisine on Lacewood Drive in Halifax for dinner this weekend (June 4, 2010) and ordered the Szechwan vegetables. It tasted pretty decent. HOWEVER, when I was scooping the last 1/4 of it from the bowl, I noticed a giant dead fly mixed in with the vegetables. I informed the waiter immediately. He looked at it, said "Oh, so sorry" and left. 5 minutes later another employee came over (I'm not sure if it was the manager or someone else) and asked to see the fly. I pointed it out to her. She looked pretty disgusted when she saw it, said "Oh wow. Ugh. So sorry." And that was the end of it. They didn't offer to make me a new plate of food. They assumed I was done eating (and trust me, I was), took the food away, and promptly brought me my bill. They charged me for everything-- nothing free, no discount, nothing to make up for the giant dead fly that was simmering with my vegetables, and that arrived on my plate. Their kitchen obviously isn't clean if this is the kind of food they are serving. And even if you argue that this could happen in any restaurant (although I've never experienced getting insects/flies in my food anywhere else in my life), it's clear they have pretty low standards / terrible customer service given how they handled the situation. Beware.
