Amazing Winterdelicious Menu

We have been a couple of time at Scorpion and it's the best Culinary Experience in town. Chef Marcello is an amazing artist on flavors. My main course was a roller-coaster of different taste from heat to sweet. The winter delicious menu price under $29 dollars for a 3 course dinner, it's great deal for a Saturday night dinner with live flamenco music. We did found out last Saturday that The Scorpion Chef launch his own new cooking show on RogersTV on March 2011.

I really wanted to like this place...

A bit of a disappointment, really wanted to enjoy it but we didn't . Thinking the first time might be an off night we went twice. Sadly average and forgettable food. When looking at the menu prices I found myself thinking "am I in Yorkville?"- (no, in Yorkville food wd be better) , Not much atmosphere... Ego has gotten away on this place. Go online and review menu selection + prices before you head out- if you like mediterranean maybe it will work for you. It will be along time before we return- maybe in the distant future to see if anything has changed because it is nice that there is a mediterranean choice of places to eat.

On an evening such as St. Valentines Day, when one would hope that everything would be perfect.... It was as close as it gets, with respect to fine dining. Scorpion had a full house and the place was buzzing with couples of all ages. There was a special menu just for the occasion and Chef Marcello pulled out all the stops to make it a great weekend event. The prices were marginally higher than the regular menu, but well worth it, given the even more upscale offerings, such as Lobster and Venison rack, Seafood Ceviche and Cornish Game Hen. They even kicked up the Wine selections for the weekend as well. We started with a dozen fresh oysters on the half shell, nicely presented with a spicey salsa verde and two shots of chilled tequila. Then our first courses were a heart-shaped Crab Cake and handmade oversized ravioli stuffed with ricotta and porcini mushrooms in a brown butter sauce. Mains were, perfectly roasted whole Lamb tenderloins with savory gratin potatoes and a steamed veggie bouquet... and Pan roasted Chilean Sea Bass, with fennel slaw and vegetables. Portion sizes were generous, but not so much as to over stuff. Dessert was a delightful twist on Scorpion's Chocolate Fractals cake, again, shaped in a heart motif for the occasion. All in all, a very well done special menu. We enjoyed every dish!

My children took me to Scorpion for my birthday last Thursday, for an early dinner and we were pleasantly greeted by Nancy, who had our table all ready for us. Knowing it was my birthday, Chef Marcello himself came over to take our order and to recommend a couple of signature items for us to try. We were not disappointed! Both my children had the chocolate chipotle ribs, but with different side dishes. My youngest had a rib sauce grin from cheek to cheek! I had a lovely dish called Cioppino, which was a savory mix of seafood in a slightly spicy broth, over linguini noodles. Mussels, clams, shrimp, calamari and whitefish were abundant. I was in heaven!! I paired my main with a glass of house white wine, which for the price, was an excellent choice as well. We had a dessert sampling from Scorpion's "Winterdelicious" menu, complete with a candle and singing of happy birthday to me. All in all, it was a great evening and we went home completely satisfied. Thanks Chef Marcello and Nancy!!

When you enter this restaurant you can smell and feel the Mediterranian flair. Then the Chef's wife comes and greets you with a friendly Mediterranian hug. When you sit down and look through the menu you will be amazed by the selection and variety. Once you order you wil experience the best Culinary experience of your life. Regardless of the meals you select they will look like a piece or art and taste exquisite. Not a week can pass without a visit to this restaurant. Many times I have selected the same dish and every time its a different look and taste. You cannot go wrong you have to try this restaurant

hmmmm, this is a difficult review to write. The first time I came here, my group was quite impressed. The atmosphere was nice and quiet, the food was delicious, the menu was impressive, but the young waiter was a little "slow" and awkward. However, I left the place satisfied and wanting to go back the next time. we were the only ones in the restaurant. We had ordered the flat bread which was delicous, I had the chicken stuffed with cranberries and goat cheese which was tastey and nicely presented, and the others had spaguetti with duck meatballs, beet risotto ( i think there were leeks as well), gnocchi and shortribs. The dessert was good and we were satisfied and happy when we left. The following TWO times we went, we were not pleased at all. The flat bread was completely burnt on the bottom, the shortribes were dry and served ontop of pasta with what seemed to be a chocolate sauce and served much differently than before. The other lady i was with ordered the chicken breast i did before and it was skimped....half the sides were missing and the breast was dry...not to mention that I'm assuming i got a thigh the first time. They ran out of sparking water. Since the place was busy, we thought that maybe they were a little slow in the kitchen or short staffed and couldn't keep up with the heavy flow of customers. The third time a few weeks later, we ordered the same rissotto which was HARD!!! Undercooked. Everything else that we had ordered looked like it was slopped together without care. Very unimpressed. But this time, it wasn't so busy. Since the side dishes once again we lacking, we decided that maybe they ran out of food which is unacceptable or they had to cut back without changing their prices, which is unacceptable as well. However, the tapas was good (samosas). Finally, for dessert, we decided to order the "Grilled fruit", thinking, that as the name describes it, the fruit would be grilled. It wasn't. It was regular fruit, presented on a plate with some sauce on it. Not impressed. I don't know how the first time could have been so delicious and fantastic and the last two horrible. I have spoken to a few other people who have had this experience already. clearly it's not us who are being picky. I was really excited to support someone local that was different and organic especially. But obviously he can't keep up his consistency. I'll give it a try again and see what the outcome is for the last time.

I found a little gem in Aurora. Real authentic...

I found a little gem in Aurora. Real authentic mediterranean food with a twist. Mostly fresh and organic products. One of the few resaturants where the chef , Marcello, takes the time to mingle with the customers...........the wine was excellent and very well priced....I will be going back with friends for a customized cooking class!
