We were headed to a supplier visit and the meeting was going to run through the lunch hour, so we decided to stop at La Grill and pick-up lunch for eight people to go. We placed our order for two of their four person combos which came to about $20.00 per person or $160.00 total. The lady who took our order told us it would take at least 10 minutes for the meat to be cooked, we said no problem.
Thirty minutes later I told the lady that we needed to be going and she told us how everything is made fresh from scratch, blah, blah, blah. I parroted her ten minute claim and she said, get this, "I said at least ten minutes...." And then she had the audacity to suggest that next time we should call ahead and handed us the take-out menu. I exclaimed "next time...what next time, the service here is horrific, the restaurant is nearly empty and you can't fill an order in less than half an hour".
It took over forty minutes for the meat to finally appear and another seven minutes for the cold salads, etc.. No plates, cutlery, or anything you would actually need and use for such a take-out.
The food ended up being a bit cold (as a result of sitting on their counter) and was no where near as good as another very popular Mediterranean restaurant near HWY 7 & Leslie St.
I would highly recommend you eat elsewhere unless you like mediocre Mediterranean food with third class service and attitude to spare.
Good things are worth waiting for!
The food here was AMAZING and likely the best Middle Eastern cuisine in Toronto. And being Middle Eastern and quite critical of Middle Eastern cuisine myself, take my word for it.
The Filet Mignon and Chicken are incredibly moist and tender. MUST HAVES !!! Hummous and Baba Ganoush were just barely behind my moms!
We've held two medium size functions in this restaurant (20-30 people) including a baptism. We were initially worried about pleasing everyone (its rare that EVERYONE really enjoys the food anywhere), however, that was the case BOTH TIMES! Italians, Greeks and Arabs, ALL LOVED IT.
I recently read some so so reviews and felt it was important to share our own experiences so that others would have the opportunity to taste the food and not be deterred.
Its true the atmosphere is ok and the service may be just ok, but the food makes up for anything!!!

On our most recent visit we decided to take some friends from out of town as we have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant. Service is always slow, so be prepared to wait. On most visits we take the filet mignon shish kebob however on this day we decided on trying the lamb as it was advertised on the menu as $15.99 compared to the $19.99 filet mignon. upon getting the bill we were surprised to see the dinners all priced at $19.99. We brought this to the attention of our waiter who then told us that it is already in the computer and there is nothing he can do about it. When we mentioned that it is in the menu for $15.99 he went to the bar area to bring us a menu. He came back with a take out menu and showed us that it says $19.99 in that menu, when we explained that we ordered off the regular menu and not the take out one he left the table and headed for the back kitchen. He emerged a minute later and proceeds to tell us that there is nothing he is going to do as ALL of their customers know that the price was increased without the menus being updated. Our table was left shocked at the horrendous service. We left feeling as we were ripped off and never wanting to return. A simple sticker with the correct price on it would be sufficient. If you decide to visit this restaurant make sure you ask the waiter what they decided to change their prices to that day before you order.
I went there with three of my friends and we ordered a combo for four even though there were 3 of us. The food is the best in toronto. I have never eaten middle eastern food like that. Food didn't take too long either and service was also good. Its also a very good priced restourant. The filet mignon is amazing, very tender. I would for sure go again and again.
We arrived to a candle lit atmosphere, perfect for Valentine's Day. The food was fresh and on time (waited approximately 15-20 minutes), the filet mignon was the best I have ever tasted. The service was delightful and welcoming. I am planning on hosting a party there soon, but it seems they are booked solid until April- and I can see why! I would highly recommend this restaurant for couples or large groups because the prices are phenomenal!
Food was great, waited about 15 minutes, the place was very busy with only one waitress working however. Great for people wanting a filling lunch for under or around $10.

We decided to attend a pre-set event at La Grill on December 22nd. They had arranged for a band and a singer. The time was set by the restaurant for 8pm. This was our second time attending. We actually had held our daughter's baptism reception there. Although the food was tasty, the service was going at a snail's pace at my daughter's baptism. We thought they were short staffed at that time so we decided to give it a second chance. Oh my goodness, our blood was boiling. We arrived promptly at 8pm. The service again, so darn slow...it seems as though the restaurant does this on purpose so that people buy alcohol while they wait. We left hungry (could not wait for dinner). We heard that dinner was not served until 11pm (three hours later). The music was so loud that you could not hear the person speaking next to you. It was unnecessarily loud..We left the restaurant with ringing in our ears. It just was not a pleasant experience at all!
