Been here twice: 1st time a year ago we had mussels 3 ways...don't go to pubs for mussels. I don't think they offer this anymore. Smart.
2nd time was a couple weeks ago with a group. We had tonnes of fun, ordered many different dishes, mainly pub fare. The ribs on special were GINORMOUS. Nothing special as to flavour but tender and enough to take home half. Fried lobster bits appetizer was awful. Fish & Chips batter was thick and uncooked.
The waitress with the long blond extensions and bubble on top couldn't handle a group our size (12 people). Drinks and orders often came one at a time and she bordered on rude, in a naive way not an ornery way. Perhaps she was new or perhaps management should have had 2 wait staff in that room.
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Grimsby. They make the best wings in town. They are big and not greasy. We get the sauce served on the side (the tastiest sauce ever). The large caesar salad is large enough to feed 2 people. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff are fantastic. We've only tried wings (Wed. is wing night - 49 cent wings), but have noticed other plates going by with huge portions of food. Plan on trying something different this weekend. Folks you have to give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

I havent been in since the ownership change and name change. Wow what a great job they did. The biggest improvement came via the food. Outstanding. Hats off to that chef. Our service was graeat aswell, but i didnt catch her name, she was short, wit ha great smile. If you have the chance check this place out.
Wow. My friend told me how good this place was. I must say she was right. Service was the best i've ever had. Her name was P.J. The food well I cant say enough. Great size portions, lots of flavour. I will be going back alot. Finally I found a great place to hang out. Keep up the good work judge and jester staff/management.

Every meal was cooked perfectly, Very nice touch with the corn on the cob as seasonal veg. I cant say enough about the food it was like i was in a pub and eating a fine dinning meal. Our server was very polite, helpful and made us smile. I recommend this place to anyone. Great mix of age groups on a friday night.
As soon as we got in we were seated and given menus. Our waiter was there reading and waiting to serve us. She was very knowledgeable about all the meals and certain drinks. Had a great smile and great attitude. Food was brought out promtly and service with a smile.
I can't wait to go back there. I think it was an excelent place to and I highly recomend it.
When the Judge and Jester started it was great, good food (pub style) and then slowly things have slid downhill. now, cold fries and fish that has sat under a heat lamp. salad swimming in dressing. and unfortunately, undercooked chicken. I hope that management can bring things up to the level when they first opened!

This place is never a bad idea. Has a fantastic atmosphere with great waitstaff. And the menu - never disappoints...no matter what you feel like, they've got it covered. I would recommend anything on the menu (and between the two of us, we've had most of it). Good portions, great taste, nice laid back and not rowdy surroundings.
The best restaurant Grimsby has to offer!
Fabulous meal in a very comfortable setting! Staff was friendly and attentive from the get go (not overly, but just right). Quality of food and service is always exceptional. Very impressed with how clean the restaraunt is (even in the rest rooms!) We are always delighted to visit 'the Judge' which is why we keep coming back!! :)
Our Favourite restaurant in Grimsby. Very nice atmosphere without being loud and busy like most pubs. We eat here at least once a week and I've never had to send anything back to the kitchen. FISH AND CHIPS ARE GREAT...BUT THE FRENCH ONION SOUP IS THE BEST I'VE EVER TASTED
We had a terrible experience. When we sat down our kids were offered something to drink (ie. Juice, Pop,chocolate milk etc). As we started looking through the menu we noticed that there was no kids menu. When the waiter came back he let us know that there was in fact a kids menu to order from. We ordered two things from the kids menu and two things from the regular menu (for my wife and I). The food was "OK." I definately wouldn't say it was terrible but it was not out of this world either. When we received our final bill ($60+ for 2 kids and 2 adults!!) we noticed that we were charged for the chocolate milks. The kids menu stated that the kids received a drink free. When we pointed this out to the waiter he advised us that chocolate milk was not one of the free drinks. We asked that the waiter not charge us for the chocolate milks because he didn't originally let us know there was a kids menu to order from. The waiter went over to the bar where one of the owners was sitting and asked if the chocolate milks could be waived. The reply was no. I asked that the waiter go back again, indicating that I was prepared to never return to the restaurant. The waiter came back with the same response. As we got up the leave the owner picked up his cell phone and started talking to someone (obviously so he didn't have to make eye contact with us).
We will never again visit this restaurant and recommend that you do not either.
What a pleasant surprise. This was our first visit to the Judge and we will certainly be returning. Food was very good; especialy the Crab cakes & Chicken Pot Pie. It was served as a stuffed yorkie with mashed potatoes and veg. on side. Service was prompt and pleasant. Looking foward to returning!
