This is the place I go when there is something to celebrate. The food is always great and I can guarantee that my guests will love what they order. I have never been disappointed.
We've been to Bollywood several times and have never been disappointed. The food is authentic Indian, not too much oil and ghee and presented exquisitely. During lunch its busy, with just one person waiting but its always worth the wait. Recommend this restaurant highly for anyone who wants authentic Indian food!
shrimp dishes to die for and the lamb is a must ! very warm and cosy and the wait staff is great... very attentive and friendly ... Ive been there at least a dozen times or more and never been disappointed
We recently finally were able to arrange a night out for supper and could not wait to go back the Bollywood Bistro. Unfortunately, as the food we order started to come I started to wonder if we had accidently been given a very expensive lunch menu. We both had appetizers and entrees and I was looking for some bread or something to fill me up. We actually finished our meal, left the restaurant and walked over to a cafe to get some more food. We don't normally eat too much but really for the price it cost it is definately not worth it. The appetizers are just a taste and the entrees are appetizers.
Love this place, Nina is great I tried a dish I loved in the meat platter that they served for lunch. At the time it wasn't on the regular menu. I would ask Nina if it could be made and she always did. Nigrili chicken is now on the menu and is by far the best Indian dish I've had. Her brown dhal is also tasty. Thanks for great food Nina
Went with my spouse for dinner. The service was adequate but the food left us both hungry...and we both ordered appetizers. The samosa surprise was tasty but it was a little tiny samosa drowned in a ton of yogurt sauce. For $17-$18 entree the butter chicken came with 4-5 small cubes of chicken and a cup of rice??? Seriously!! We spend nearly $80 on dinner and went home to have a bowl of cheerios! That's kinda sad and we aren't huge eaters. I wouldn't recommend it for the price.
This restaurant is always my top pick when we decide to go out on a whim. I love their butter chicken. The owners tend to give you a hard time if more than one person in the party orders butter chicken because they want you to expand your choices. I completely understand this and appreciate their advice. By now I have tried everything on the menu so hopefully I am allowed to order the Butter Chicken again... I also love the crunchy okra appetizer and one of the shrimp appetizers but I am not sure if they have it anymore. I have read many reviews that complain about slow service and I have never experienced this. They also make an awesome pina colada and their Naan is to die for!
The food was ok, nothing great. The portion sizes are small, inadequate for the naan, so you go home still hungry, or land up ordering too much just to finish the naan. Food quality is adequate, nothing great. If you do not wish to cook and want to eat out, I suppose you could do a lot worse. But again, Guelph does not have too many Indian restaurants, so beggars cannot be choosers.
visited at weekend, starter of samosa was delis, main meal , was not too happy , small portion for the price compared to other indian restaurants, chicken tikka was delis, lamb had no real spicy flavour would visit for just lunch next time,
A true taste of real gourmet food from the sub-continent. Not to put down other curry houses (many of which I love) this is no run-of-the-mill tin dish joint. The food is really a step above. I love Indian food and have visited restaurants all over the world; this is my favourite. I have no hesitation rating it "best ever" in its category. I can't speak to the wine list because I almost always have a bottle of Kingfisher beer with curry. The owners are two of the nicest and most sophisticated Indian restaurateurs that you will meet. If it's not too busy (often is) strike up a conversation. We have eaten there several times now. Give yourself a real Indian food treat. This place is great! ENJOY!!!!!!!
I took family members who were visiting from out of town to this restaurant for a first visit. It was excellent. The server we had, wasn't quick to get to our table once we were seated, but very knowledgeable with the items on the menu and was able to offer suggestions when tossing up between two items. The portion sizes are perfect, the food excellent. The decor is very nice and quite appropriate to the theme. I would definitely return to this restaurant.
For my husband and I, The Bollywood Bistro is our happy place. :-) The food is predictably fantastic, the service is always with a smile, we're never rushed through and we always leave satisfied. I highly recommend the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Vindaloo. My husband's favourite is the Goa Shrimp. And if you have the room, definitely try the tandori platters. Although my husband and I are fans of the hot and spicy, even our 3 year old can eat at this indian restaurant with their selection of milder foods. Thank you Neena and Harish, for bringing such fabulous food to Guelph!
I have always wondered about The Bollywood Bistro because I used to work across the street. I finally tried it on a whim and was completely pleasantly surprise. As someone who frequently tries new restaurants I often find at least one thing to complain about. I cannot complain about anything in this restaurant. The service was very attentive and helpful and the food was just plain amazing. Our waitress who I suspect is one of the owners told us that all the food was made fresh. It was soooo good! I mean so tasty and not overly spicey. I would definitely go again and recommend to anyone, even people who are new to Indian food.
Great food, nice decor, worst wine list in town! I like the restarant but have a hard time convincing any of my friends to go there bassed on the lousy beverage selection.
My favorite Indian restaurant. I've lived in India and my parents spent 35 years in India so we've tried every Indian restaurant around. Bollywood is my absolute favorite! The owners are very friendly, foods amazing, decor is nice...definitely recommend it.
Stopped in on a whim for lunch and could not have been happier. We were greeted by both of the owners and were instantly welcomed by this charming establishment. All of the food was mouth watering and unbelieveable! The Naan was some of the best we've ever enjoyed! We are already planning our return visit!! Do your tastebuds a favour and check it out for yourself!
I'd have to say this is the best lamb curry and naan I've ever had. It was absolutely delicious! The service was great too.
Although I'm relatively new to Indian food (just in the last year or so), this was among the best I've tasted. Rice was perfect, naan was light and even a bit crispy. The dessert they offered on the platter was interesting; almost like a tiny doughnut served in a sweet sauce. The setting was a little cafeteria-like, but maybe I just felt that way because we were seated in the middle of the room when all the outlying tables weren't filled yet. Oh well, the food is worth the uncomfortable seating arrangements.
I read about this restaurant and went to try it, but nothing was upto my standard. Food was tastless, no salt at all, recooked and very pricy. I couldn't beleive the good reviews this restaurant is getting, everything is fake. We will not go back.
i am very well aquainted with the family of the restaurant. and i am pleased to say that it was a an exhilerating experience. overall i loved it will be back soon.
