bought haddock and fries on Tuesday April 16 2019 and have been ill since. I told my son it tastes like dirty old oil and should not have eaten it but I did. Big mistake. Burped the oil all night and then the diarrhea started and at 11 am still feel ill. Have never had this from Harrys sad.
I have only ever eaten in because I don't live anywhere near the restaurant. The atmosphere is nothing to rave about, but the food is awesome! The batter is light and crispy, and the fish is always plentiful.
I've always had good and service in this restaurant. In the 20 times I've gone there with my mother, nephew and sister.... the food has always been great. There was once a few years ago when the food was a little undercooked due to a new employee but the staff more than made it up to us with a complimentary meal.. The onion rings tend to be a little greasy but a paper napkin fixes that right up.
As we don't like Ketchup, they never complain about our using lots of tartar sauce packets with our meals like most other restaurants do. Other fish and chip places only give you 1 to 2 packets then charge you 25 cents for each additional packets.
My 2 year old nephew also tends to make a mess when he eats but it doesn't seem to bother them and they have always been very polite to us. I've also noticed he tables tend to be wiped regularly using clean washcloths unlike some other nasty fish and chip places who use the same washcloth on the tables that they used in the washroom. YUCK!!!!
I don't usually leave review but I can't stand by and let this JeffM person give a poor review of my and my familiy's favorite seafood restaurant.
My mother is also from the east coast (so she knows about good seafood) which also makes her a very picky and fussy eater and she will not eat fish and chip anywhere else as she knows quality.
Really great fish.
It was a bit on the greasy side (obviously not baked... but when is great fish and chips baked?!), but the fish pretty much melts in your mouth. We will definitely return.
Service was also good.
Came across the previous review the other day and decided to check out the restaurant as we havn' t eaten there after moving away from the area over 30 years ago. Went on a Thursday and found it bustling with patrons. The food was as good as we remembered it. I would think that if confronted with a quality issue they would have addressed it. Restaurants don't stay in business this long by serving poor quality. And no I do not work there.

Great Poutine. Most restraunts I've been to use the graded cheddar or some other cheese, Harry's goes authentic cheese curds, so much props for that. Service was fast friendly and with a smile. Atmosphere was very fish and chippy. Extremely genourous portion sizes and the halibut was delicious. A great affordable lunch spot.
Wow! Harry's Fish and Chip are by far the best fish and chips I have ever had. The portion size is great, and I love the fresh cut french fries. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient. It is a cute cosy resturant. I can't wait to go back.
Fish was of normal portion size, and well prepared. Lots of fries. A clean, neat, if slightly cramped, or cozy little shop. Service was a little slow, but the place was packed.
The size of the filets where, small, besides that the Prices are WAY to high. I also think they should really clean up the resturant, : dust, dirt in the corners of the walls, dirty toilets. It was a real let down, and i heard good reviews about the place, I was not impressed. BUt the service was good, and the staff were friendly. It the place was alittle cleaner, and prices dropped alittle, it would be a great place.
