Great and cheap Chinese food! With the buffet you have tons of options to choose from and it's all good
When it comes to Chinese food, Mandarin Buffet Restaurant is on top of the list! Food is always hot and fresh. Well organized and beautifully displayed food in the buffet servers. Mouth-watering food! This is the place where you can be yourself and eat whatever your heart desires. :-)
Today we are living in a busy world that affects our lives and health. Food is the most important thing for our health. Foods help us to be an active and a helpful person for our society; therefore, I chose to talk about Mandarin restaurant. It is one of the popular healthy restaurants that provide fresh and variety of Canadian and Chinese foods such as, sea foods, fruits, and vegetables. Also, it is a good place for families and friends to meet, to communicate with each other and to enjoy a lot of different food types. Mandarin restaurant has a convenience and reasonable prices. I love to eat there with my friends at least twice a month. The customer service in Mandarin restaurant is really good. In addition, the open buffet is well organized, each food section has a special design and color that suits the type of food is displaying which make the foods seem more delicious.
I went for this restaurant for my second wedding anniversary. Never go for this restaurant without a reservation (especially on weekend’s dinner). No reservation means that you have to stay at least 1 hour in the reception. Food was very fresh (especially salads and sea food). Lots of verity in the buffet, which is excellent. Inside decor is excellent...I love it. But when it comes to table setups it's kind of weird. I think it's too close to each other (actually some time you can hear what they talk in next table) Clearing of empty food plates in the tables are little slow, but the staff is very friendly. Restaurant has good clean floor and wash rooms clean too. When we sit down we told to server that we came for anniversary, but nothing special given to us..... But overall everything covered by the quality of food. Buffet was well spread out and tasty. Definitely the price is little to high. But for special occasions like anniversary this is one of the best places. Yes I will go again
Both of us enjoyed our experiences at the Mandarin. We have both been there many times and have always found that the food was hot & fresh and there was plenty of variety between Chinese and Canadian cuisine. We really enjoyed the specials that were offered at different times during the year like at Christmas, Chinese New year and other special occasions. The service is always exceptional with the server & other wait staff paying close attention to your tables needs. The price is also reasonable for the variety, quality of the food and the exceptional service. The only complaint that we can make is that it can sometimes be too busy. During the rush hour around dinner time, there are sometimes so many people around the buffet that it can be difficult to manoeuvre through the crowds to get to the food. This however is a minor issue and a compliment to how well they are doing. Overall though the Mandarin is a very good restaurant and both of us would return again.
I have been there a number time and the buffet never seems to change, and what the deal with dumpling festival does it ever stop? There are lots of items to pick from. The service is ok , the atmosphere is ok, as well they should give you more space between tables I found that to be an annoyance. they give me a warm beer which I asked them to take back and they charged me for it so I had a talk to the manager to worked that out. The place is nothing special, same old / same old.
The Mandarin is still easily the best buffet restaurant out there. The food is outstanding especially from the grill area. They always change the variety as well to keep things interesting. They have a good selection of breads including wonderfull garlic bread and the desserts keep on getting better and better. The only place in Hamilton for a truly worthwhile buffet!!!!!
I adore the Mandarin. Fave place to eat of all time. And the crab legs are a steal. The service usually great. By far the best server yet has been Peter, I adore him. The only complaint I have is from the first time after having my daughter my fiance and I went on a date there and I was over joyed to beable to have some fancy drinks. Unfortunately a younger server who I did not recognize commented when I ordered my third drink saying something along the lines of you must of had enough.
This was an extremely busy sunday evening dinner, but it always amazes me how they can move customers like a well oiled machine. The food tins are always full and hot, and very tasty, The price of $23.99 for the crab buffet is a REAL BARGAIN.
I have been frequenting the Mandarin for a few years now. I have gone there with friends, but dine alone sometimes, as well. If you want to take friends to lunch or dinner, there is enough choice that would please anyone, I would think. Even if they do not like Chinese Food, they could find other things. Only one little thing that doesn't bother me too much, but makes me feel a little uncomfortable when dining alone. I notice that I am usually seated in an area where I feel that single diners are not important. Place them beside the kitchen door, that sort of thing. Other than that, it's fine.
Hi my names aidan and i just love the Mandarin every time im out with my buddys i always suggest it and usually i get my way note my rewiew pts, there are so many dishes to choose from i still havent tryed em all so will i go back ur darn tootin i will.
This restaurant has a wide variety of food. I can't complain about that. The wait staff were always there making sure you have your drinks and clearing your plates very promtly (maybe I felt a little too prompt). We felt almost rushed. The atmosphere was good, very busy. Price wise I can only say OK. How many times can you go up to eat for a total bill of close to $100.00.
The quality of the food, and the selection are fantastic. The service is extremely friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back for more!
We go to the Mandarin on a regular basis. Best Chinese Buffet in town for selection, service, cleanliness and friendliness. The only complaint I have of which the Mandarin cannot change and that is the number of children that are now in the restaurant. They waste so much food and run around all over making it dangerous for servers and patrons alike. I know you can't refuse customers with children but it would be a good idea maybe to post a sign saying "Eat what you take and don't waste food". Maybe it will smarten some of these ignorant parents up. We are getting to the point where we don't like going there anymore.
Who doesn't love a buffet? The only thing better than a buffet....is a chinese food buffet! And when I think chinese buffet, I think mandarin. It may not be as authentic as other chinese food restaurants, but there is SO much to choose from, and the food is sooo good. A little on the expensive side, but excellent for special occasions.
Nobody speaks English. All the food tastes the same. Overpriced.
I would like to say that the service at the Manderin is wonderful and is relaxing. the waitresses the wait on you, they do not rush you nor spill or make a desater on you. i will love to come back to the Maderin some time this week again. Crystal
We have had occasion to visit this Mandarin restaurant on numerous trips to Hamilton and we have never been disappointed. We recommend this buffet to anyone who likes a good variety.
Made reservations mother's birthday celebration for lunch & requested a quiet surroundings & requested the servers to sing the birthday song and give her a cake. I was told that was not a problem. The seating we recieved was pushed into a group of 2 large long tables, that were set up to seat a Very Large Graduating Catholic School of approx. 40 students, parents and faculty. My family wase constantly pushed & bumped into by every student and server who attended this group function that we were inconviently shoved beside and forced to sit beside, as well, while this unruley group of children kept running back and forth up to the Buffet tables they were also banging our elbows, chairs and table as they passed. We constantly tried to get any of the server's attention, so we could get our water glasses refilled and / or plates removed, unless we repeatedly kept asking for water and napkins, as they were too focused on the gratuity from this group to bother serving our table. Finally one server did fill my mothers glass with water, but when she poured it from the side of the water pitcher into my mothers glass, she poured some of the water onto my mother's lap also, then smiled and just said sorry.. BUT Never went to get napkins or a cloth for her to dry herself off. However with all the napkins and water glasses being refilled at the graduation tables, we were left out getting ANY proper service from ANY staff as we figured they were not focused on any gratuity they would have received from our table, but more from a large group at these tables. Most items WERE enjoyable, but there were many buffet items that tasted too salty. When it came time to pay the bill, I told 3 servers privately, my mom is ready, when they will sing Happy Birthday to my 76 year old Mother? I was told "OK" . " They'll check" and "Soon". 15 minutes later I recieved my bill, for "total amount, handed a warm towel and a fortune cookie. No cake for my mother, and NO Birthday Song. No Apologies. NOTHING MORE! Then, Only then, did a server actually wait around at our table, until I fully paid the bill in cash, and as she took the money away, counted it out to see what her tip was, without asking if I'd like change back. No Cake or song, and It was very rude of the server to dump water onto my mother and not even get a napkin for her to dry off her pants. We were very disappointed at the service of the Upper James Street, Hamilton Mountain Mandarin Resturaunt so much I had to complian to the Head office. When I did complain to the Mandarin Head office, and upon thier full investigation into what happened when we booked this famil Birthday, we were offered 3 complimentary lunch bufffet back at Hamilton Mandarin to replace the 3 paid buffets we didnt enjoy. My family and I are very appreaciative of this, and feel the Mandarin buffet restauraunt has done someting to try to fix thier error from the past visit we experianced. We do recommend The Mandarin Buffet to everyone!!
A big letdown from the year before. Spare chairs were stacked around the outer edge of the buffet (WHY?), unsupervised kids were running around and food was hastily prepared and not up to scratch. We "reserved" 3 weeks before and were placed in an entrance hallway to one of the large rooms. On asking if any other tables were available, our waiter said, "What do you expect on New Years Eve?" I expect better. Do it right or don't bother. My glowing review from last year can be disregarded. I'll make other plans for next year.
