My girlfriends an...

My girlfriends and I went there today for lunch. I had the ribs and my girlfriends had a number of other choices. Everyone was very pleased with their choice. I loved my ribs. They were fantastic, sticky, sweet and tender. So I thank the management for making our visit memorable in all the right ways. In additon to the wonderful food, the service was also great. We were not rushed, nor were we feeling ignored. Thanks.

Great catch of the day and you can't beat the C & Ribs!

We have been here a few times and I am noticing (like other reviewers) that the prices seem to be an on-going issue. I have absolutely no complaints about the service and I have been there when it's busy, when it's a bit quieter and at different times in the evening. Since I tend to stick with what I know - here is my take on things! If you like fish, I encourage you to try their 'catch of the day'. It is not battered or deep fried. I'm not sure what it is they do, but I have had this meal a half dozen times and I can't say enough about it - moist, tasty, a sort of 'grilled/natural smoke' flavour and their tartar sauce is perfect for dipping your fish (although so good that it's not needed). My big beef is the price of a glass of wine - WAY OVERPRICED! Every other restaurant in town serves the same amount of wine for almost half the price. It really adds to an already expensive bill. The chicken and ribs are phenomenal and you just can't go wrong with their incredible and famous fully loaded baked potatoe!

How do you sell a $4 steak for $30? Simple wrap it in an above average atmosphere, put the waiter in a white apron, have what seems like an endless amount of steam emitting from kitchen and add a shovel full of fries.

I have not been back since we had received rude...

I have not been back since we had received rude service from the staff at Baton Rouge Kanata. They have some serious customer services issues to address. I am a repeat customer and I cannot believe how bad they have become.

A Chain-Restauant meal...a Four-Star price list!!

I recently attended a birthday dinner at Baton Rouge. I asked if I could have a small order of ribs and instead of the usual trimmings, could I substitute with a small chef's salad. I was informed that I could not. My friend asked for a quarter litre of wine and was told that the wine was sold by the expensive glass or the expensive bottle. The children ordered chicken tenders. They each agreed they had difficulty finding much chicken in the puffed batter. The dinner continued in that vain. A 'good' restaurant is more than happy to accomodate the customer. If its not on the menu, the 'good' restaurant will see to it that the customer is pleased and satisfied. Baton Rouge is not one of those restaurants.

Good food but overpriced- strange serving system

For a few years we have been fairly regular diners at Baton Rouge; however, we are reconsidering this restaurant. The food is always very good in taste and quality, but the prices keep going up. In addition, the use of multiple servers is annoying. Instead of having one server for your meal, there are different servers throughout. One server takes your order, then another brings your drinks, another serves your food and so on. It gets difficult to keep track of who is serving you and detracts from the meal as you spend time trying to figure out who the new person is who just showed up at your table! It has definitely resulted in less generous tipping as you don't feel you have had that 1-1 experience. The last point is the noise level. It is a very noisy restaurant (like sitting in a busy cafeteria). We will likely go back, but not as often.

Graduation Dinner

Nothing to be excited about but not horrible. We had like 10 people who came to our table on a regular basis to serve us. I appreciate making sure we are taken care of but it kept disrupting our meal so it kinda back fired a bit. I found it to be quite expensive even for my sandwich but the taste was really good so I can't complain too much. I would use this as a special occasion resturant and it is deffinately hit and miss on the service depending on when you are there and who is serving you.

Great Ribs!!

We were given a 100 gift certificate. But if was going to spend that much on a meal the review wouldn't change. Went on a friday at 7:30 didn't have to wait at all for table. Server was quick but was still pleasant and answered all questions asked. Drinks, appetizers, and entrees were quick. Appetizers came with sufficient time before entrees. WOULD DEFINETLY BE BACK and maybe try a steak.

Manager and staff eating our food

Baton Rouge staff obviously never though twice about their 'View the kitchen" style counter in their restaurant in Kanata.  Our family and friends went to celebrate a cousins birthday and sat in disbelief as one of our waiters picked fries off our plates and ate them! He then proceedd to serve them to our table!  We continued to watch as our plates came out and witnessed another person doing it to our plates as well before they were served!  My husband was outraged (as we all were) and asked to speak to the manager.. well low and behold, guess who comes strutting over to the table about 10 minutes afer we asked for him... the same guy who was eating off our plates!  He then proceeded to try and tell us that it is customary for them to taste test the food to ensure the quality.. so you eat our food off our plate, make sure it's good then serve it to us?! Do we LOOK LIKE IDIOTS!!?? Apparently we did, there was no admission of guilt, no apology and NOTHING taken off an over $700 table of bills.  I will NEVER go to Baton Rouge again and I suggest that if they think it's ok to eat off peoples plates to test the food, they should definitely close that window in the kitchen up!

I have been to this restaurant many times. The food is very good and the ribs are excellent. The service is generally very good but at times has been slow. My only complaint would be that the food is expensive, otherwise I would go more often.

I have been to Baton Rouge so many times now and...

I have been to Baton Rouge so many times now and it is always the same, Great food, Great service and I leave with a very full and happy belly! The ceasar salad is amazing, as close to home made as you can get (the cheese toast is also a nice extra treat). It is a must to have their filet minon, they are perfect every time, with our without the peppercorn sauce. I always have the steamed veggies and they are a great healthy side, while my boyfriend loves the all dressed baked potato. This is all around a great place, it's nice to have service from everyone working there, not just your waiter/waitress, if you ask anyone for anything they get it for you. I will keep going back :)

We had a great time. The food was amazing as expected and although I read about all of the horror stories on the service, the service we got was more than acceptable. The place was packed (Hockey night) and the server still came to our table about four times during dinner to check up on us. Our experience was great and I would highly recommend it to anyone. And the ribs were...well it's Baton Rouge and they are reknowned for their ribs for a reason...delicious and fall off the bone!

We had a dinner reservation and arrived...

We had a dinner reservation and arrived 10 minutes early, upon arrival we were promptly escorted to our seats. The multi style service by many personnel was excellent. We were not pressured to rush our order nor were we at any time rushed to finish it. The Prime Rib “ AU JUS” BROILED OVER, ordered medium rare, was succulent and to "DIE FOR". Cooked this way makes it by far the best Prime Rib on the planet! There is simply no other comparison to it! I strongly recommend that other Steak houses should adopt it. The baby back ribs were juicy and perfectly cooked as well. It was a very enjoyable dining experience.

Never been so dessappointed over the service we...

Never been so dessappointed over the service we received in a high class restaurant like yours. We had one of our guest that got their plate taken away when he was putting his last bite in his mouth. Another guess never received his plate until our party was half done. This is the second we went their and sure will be the last one. I work for a hotel in Kanata and for sure will not recommend any of my guest to Baton Rouge.

Ribs there are as good as the sultry Radio advert claims them to be. Really sweet & succulent with an A+++ BBQ sauce -Cool interior - good chairs -great staff - We also had a sample of thier Chicken fingers or "Tenders" these are NOT the run of the mill chiken fingers - these are worth mentioning they're sooo good - as well my wife had Ribs with jumbo BBQ shrimps that looked amazing -

My wife and I often dine at the above noted restaurant and usually have ribs which we consider to be the best in the area. On the last two(2) occasions we had filet mignon and both times were disappointed. Last night 1 april 2007, one of the filet mignon was served as an end of loin and held together with a toothpick since it was in three(3) pieces. When you charge $28. for a filet mignon this is truly unacceptable. WROTE TO THE RESTAURANT - GUESS WHAT - NO REPLY.

Management there are fanatical about making...

Management there are fanatical about making everything excellent. Very clean washrooms and wonderful service. It can get extremely busy and if you ever eat the ribs there you will know why. I eat there all the time - if you go for dinner you should always make a reservation - the wait can be long otherwise. Their french fries are perhaps the most underrated in town - as good as french fries can possibly be in fact. Go eat the ribs and you will see what I am talking about.
