    Wont go back

I’ve been here 4 times over six years. The prices are over the top but it’s a nice pleasant place on the stip, and service was nice. However, this last time the service was terrible. The waitresses were fighting with each other or something. When we sat down on a rainy rather empty day it took over two hours to get simple salads and burgers. We asked after an hour about our food... . This place was always snobbish but now it’s outright unpleasant and in the middle of summer tourist season I guess they think nobody will be coming back… bingo! Food was not as advertised when brought to the plate for my braised leg of lamb. A very strange dill potato was substituted for roasted garlic potatoes. Lamb and dill?

    Appalling

I was appalled by the shoddy waitering service. We waited longer than expected for 2 childrens meals and we were overcharged. I accepted the offer of a 'complimentary' coffee and the was charged for it!!! Waitering service was outrageous on the Sunday afternoon we visited. I would not recommend Shaw Cafe to anyone. On the otherhand we have had excellent service and food at other nearby restaurants at Niagara on the Lake.

    slimy salad

Started off with our arms sticking to the table, obviously not wiped down after last customer, slow service, and the most wilted slimy bitter salad i've ever seen or tasted, it doesn't get any easier than a salad, so whats up with that, if you can't get the easiest thing right.. the rest of the meal was ok, too expensive 50.00 for burger and fries, quiche and unedible salad and coke and ice tea.. no compensation after i told the waiter about the salad, and he agreed with me. That salad was half of my lunch...

    yes, food does take forever...

What can I say that's not been said before!? Yes, indeed the food does take forever to arrive to your table and then it's not even that great! But at that point you're generally too hungry to notice... I suppose that's a strategic part of the plan. The Cold Poached Salmon was tasteless, and the Roasted Chicken with Apricot Couscous was nothing to brag about and did not warrant the price you pay for it. Overall I think that the prices are outrageous for the quality of food you receive but I suppose the location and atmosphere make up for some of that... I'll probably be back, but not too soon...

    SLOOOOWW...

It took over an hour to get our food. Other people we seated after us and served before we were. We noticed another table where they waited as long as us. We don't know hat the problem was, but suspect it had to do with the kitchen. When our meals came: my daughter's pork tenderloin entree was missing the wilted garlic spinach; my other daughter's quiche had a soggy crust; my wife's burger was overdone (we guess it was put on the fire more than once); and my mussels were good (daily special). I'm sure there are better options in the area.
