We celebrated my birthday at this restaurant after a very credible recommendation. Cucci did not Disappoint! The food was fabulous and tasty. The service was very good and took their time with us. The atmosphere was quiet, romantic and intimate. We would definitely dine here again.
I cannot believe how there could every be any bad review on this place. It is bar none the best restaurant we have ever been to. Based on a recommendation from our server at the Firehall (same owners) we came here for a romantic night out and were not disappointed. We loved the beautiful setting and fantastic food and totally appreciated the unpretentious nature of the staff and clientele. If other reviewers found it "rude" to have customers in jeans at the bar we found it refreshing to not be in a stuffy downtown oakville restaurant full of old people! The prices were excellent for the food quality, there was great music and was probably the tastiest meal of our lives. We will be back on our next date night for sure
I brought my girlfriend there for a romantic night out. I couldn't have picked a better spot. When we got there we were greeted warmly at the door and shown to our seats. The servers were very attentive and seemed to really care about our dining experience. I don't understand these bad reviews, they must be from a competitor or something. The food was literally some of the best food I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. We were treated like royalty - example.. at one point my girlfriend got up to go to the bathroom. Her napkin was on her lap and it fell on the floor.. before I could pick it up, a staff member was right there and got her a new one and placed it all nicely folded on the table. Like really, really amazing of them. I would suggest this place to anyone who wants to have an amazing dining experience. I've since been back and it's always just super. I had the beef tenderloin and it was perfection. My gf had the gnocchi and it was spectacular. It's the quality of food you just want to eat it slowly so the experience lasts as long as possible..Don't listen to the haters on here.. go and you will be in gastronomic heaven.
Tried Cucci for our anniversary.....to start off, we thought the staff was indifferent, like they didn’t really care one way or another that you were there. I agree with another reviewer the food isn’t that great either and being Italian myself I can say it certainly is not ‘authentic Italian’ – I guess that’s why it is called ‘Modern Italian’ instead. All in all it was just okay – nothing special and very expensive. It is supposed to be a ‘fine dining’ restaurant which to me means there should be some sort of dress code but quite a few of the people at the bar were dressed in t-shirts, shorts, jeans, etc. (this was later in the evening) who were quite loud and used some foul language. The atmosphere was ruined by the crew at the bar and left a bad taste in our mouth. Will definitely not be back and suggest the owners really consider what a fine dining restaurant is....starting with exceptional food/service.
I seldom write reviews on any website such as this but I have to say that Cucci restaurant in Oakville delivered on all accounts. My guests and I arrived early and the restaurant and bar area was packed, we stood at the bar for a moment and then the manager brought two bar stools down from the far end of the bar for the ladies sit on and purse hooks for their bags. (My wife loved it so much she took hers) we stood by the piano while the fellow playing joked with my wife about coming back for a dance after dinner. The dining room was a little loud but we all reflected it was great to be in such a lively spot and only about a $15 cab ride home, the service was above reproach, free sparking water, attentive without being over bearing and the food OUTSTANDING! We shared a few appetizers but the star was the mushrooms on toast so simple so good. My wife ordered the fresh fish and she said it was perfect and I had the biggest veal chop ever, it was so tender I asked the waiter to put the scraps in a bag for our dog and we don’t even own a dog. When dinner was over the server took us out onto the patio to enjoy some more piano while we had dessert and coffee. Great night had by all.
A Friday night party of four. The place was full and lively with a great atmosphere and a sultry but not overpowering jazz singer in the bar. The smiling tables around us were full of conversation and laughter and you immediately got the vibe that people were truly enjoying themselves. I had trouble deciding my entree and was pleasantly surprised when our server brought me a sample portion of the other entree I really wanted, now that's classy. The food was clean, articulate and fresh. I could have eaten everything on the menu but settled with an entree and two appetizers. I left full but without that heavy, tired feeling that you get from cheap fare. I had the mixed greens and the lamb carpaccio as appetizers. My entree, the 12oz beef rib-eye steak was melt in my mouth heaven and I would return just for that cut alone. The very personable and attentive server's (two of them) kept our glasses full and brought out the food with perfect timing that allowed us to enjoy our evening and not feel rushed. To the reviewer who complained about slow service: We arrived at 8 and left after midnight and there were still tables there who arrived when we did . A proper fine dining experience is meant to be savored by taking your time and enjoying the atmosphere, your food, wine and company. If you want the churn and burn 1 hour experience try Boston Pizza next time. I also like a place where the owner is working the floor and personally and sincerely thanked us on the way out. Will definitely return.
We had heard some good and bad review on Cucci and since living in the area decided to give it a try. We went with our neighbours. To begin with our service wasn't great - took the waiter a LONG time to bring our drinks then left us for another LONG time before taking our order. The food wasn't anything great - and seemed expensive for what you received. The one positive was the atmosphere - overall it was nicely decorated, good lighting and nice music. The only downside was some of the crowd at the bar towards the end of the night.,,, to end the night we no-one was there to thank us or see us out - overall leaving a bad taste in our mouths... Not sure who is writing all of these rave reviews - maybe it was a different restaurant???
Food sub par. Veal scallopini tough like shoe leather. Ceaser salad swimming in dressing. Lasanga slightly dry and burnt flavour. It is a shame as venue is attractive. Very long wait between appetizer and main course.
I recently visited Cucci and I was struck by the vast change in staff. I went on to be seated with My guests to review the menu, Wow what a difference. Yes, there was some old favorites but I was very amazed of the difference in price and overall serving size. The new staff are not polished as were the old, and the fact that they were struggling with the minor details was a bad sign to all. Then looking around the dinning rooms it was evident that the whole clientel has changed and as such the new T-Shirt and Jean clad 20 somethings were noticed very quickly. Cucci was once a destination for all and a great night of entertainment of food and music. Now it has an Identity crisis with all. The Chef Gordon is gone and it is so very noticable, I am not sure where You went Gordon but if You read this You are so missed! Overall a bad night. P.S.-Up date Your on line menu.
I rarely review restaurants but I felt this experience is worth mentioning. We went there for my boyfriends birthday and what a great dining experience. Food was great and very well presented. Worth mentioning are very generous portions which made my boyfriend very happy. We decided to share mussels and a salad. Our waiter sugested that he can split a salad for us and serve mussels as a second course. What a nice touch ! He also recommended a great botle of wine for us which we enjoyed very much. I was very impressed with his enthusiasm when describing the wine and the area of Italy where it came from. Our main courses were beautifully presented and very delicious. My risotto was great and very flavourful as was my boyfriend's steak with lobster. We felt very well looked after and even got travel tips from our waiter about Italy and his home country of Croatia as we are going to Europe this summer. I guess I should also mention that we were not impressed with dessert selection. Our birthday dessert with berries that came with sparkler was tasteless. Overall great restaurant, great food and very personable service. Very nicely done :)
We have been to Cucci three times prior to this visit - each time the service gets worse and now, we won't be enjoying the wonderful food ever again due to the horrible service. Our group of four arrived in time for our 8 p.m. reservation - a large group of 14 had arrived just before us. The restaurant was squished that night - the servers consistantly hit the chairs of my husband and one of our friends - oh and the chairs they were sitting on were not the normal chairs - they were highly damaged, hard wooden chairs. The server took a long to time great us, drinks were slow and three times he produced the wrong bottle of wine, clearly not listening to our order. After he took our dessert order the server completely vapourized - we had to flag down another server to get our bill and our previous server pointedly ignored us. At that point the restaurant was no longer super busy, but the 14 table was still there. What a waste of a wonderful Chef - Chef - please change restaurants, we love your food, but not in an atmosphere such as Cucci any longer.
What a great experience. I came here with my fiance for a nice dinner and was very pleased. George, the owner of Season's in downtown Oakville recommended this restaurant as they had live piano. The decor is wonderful, food was great, a bit pricey but worth it. My only criticism is with the piano entertainment, he could have been a wind up robot for all the expression he put out.
I feel like these people who are leaving unhappy reviews must have been eating at another restaurant. I have been to Cucci many times and have always been very pleased, the atmosphere is one of the nicest i've seen in bronte, the food was fantastic and inventive as were the drinks. The service was good and the owner Doug made his way to almost all the tables. I will continue to return to Cucci for a great night out.
My husband and I tried Cucci for a romantic evening out. We had heard mixed reviews from friends so thought we would try it for ourselves. The staff and service was fine, very prompt and attentive. Our complaints were about the food. I guess it's our own personal preference, but both my husband's steak and my fish were incredibly salty - I could not finish my dish. It was very heavy and after a few bites I was dying of thirst. Perhaps some people like saltier food, but for me, I was put right off.
we had our staff xmas party at Cucci on a wednesday night. i've been once before. food was excellent and served quickly for a party of 20. cocktail menu fun and innovative. staff pleasant and attentive. watch out for ordering a single glass of wine though - a shocking $17 for one cab sauv.
The food at Cucci was incredible and the service wasn't too bad....but at towards the end of our evening the staff were at the bar (including the Owner Doug) drunk, being loud and obnoxious. I will not be back.
Showed up here twice for lunch (according to their web site they are open for lunch), closed both times. Came in for dinner, martini's at the bar, the manager Doug spoke to his blackberry a couple of times while dealing with us (obviously more important than the customer at hand). Meals were good, but our server was almost non existant, too busy talking to another table most of the time. Didn't have cutlery for our main courses. Couldn't answer questions about the wine list. Thankfully the other servers picked up his slack. We can find good food AND service at many other places.
both my husband and I got sick from the meal we had there - won't be back!
I had called Cucci as well (during the day) to enquire about booking a special event for my family (approx 25 people). I had requested a menu to review at home so I could then call back and arrange an appointment. Never got the menu... so I called back... again...requested a return call from the manager... no call... no menu... so I booked elsewhere. Got a call about a week before the event, by that point it was too late and I never received an apology from the manager who promised to fax me the menu (twice!!)
My husband and I have eaten at Cucci quite a few times and always look forword to our next experience. We just can't seem to get enough of chef Rooney's creations. One simple word... WOW covers it. Hands down our favorite restaurant.
