My husband and I decided to try this place because some reviews said it's pretty good. We wanted to dine in so we went but the moment we arrived I sensed something wasn't right. The lady at the front didn't even look up or said hi so we waited. When she finally acknowledged our presence, she told us to seat anywhere so we did. Seeing the place and not liking what we saw, we decided to do take out instead. We got up and told her and she said it would be at least 40 minutes so we said ok, we'd wait. She didn't take our order. Apparently she was very busy taking calls, putting people on hold and then slamming the phone when she noticed they had hung-up. She sounded upset, so after around 10 minutes of sitting there and waiting, I went up to her to tell her what we wanted to order so we could go and run errands in the meantime. What I got as a response shocked me, not so much for what she said, but for the tone she used. She told me she could not take my order as she had a lot of bills to go through and was not ready for me. I didn't even know what to say, I was stunned, I felt like a little kid getting in trouble and being screamed at. After the shock had passed I just turned around and told my husband we were leaving. She didn't even say a word when she noticed us leaving. After getting that treatment and putting up with such a rude woman, I will never return to this place.
First of all, the chicken balls from this place are the best!! I asked once when I ordered and they are made by hand with huge pieces of chicken. The noodles and chicken wings are also choices you can't go wrong with. The service is good compared to other chinese restaurants even though its busy when I go there.
In all of the times that I have gone there I have never found anything wrong with my food or the service. I go there anytime its not out of the way.
Did not go in, but ordered out instead. For all those looking for good quality chinese food, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!! I was told upon ordering that it would be 40 minutes. After 1 hour, I phoned to see where my food was, and was told it was "on it's way". 30 minutes later, the driver showed up. The rice was not hot, the chicken balls were dry, even with the sweet & sour sauce, and I a hair out of my meal!! Next time I will pay the extra money and order from the Mandarin, at least you get quality food, even if it is expensive.
Haven't dined in but had takeout. The food was exactly what you'd except for typical Canadian Chinese food and that's a good thing. Sometimes you want chicken balls in orange sauce. Excellent egg rolls. Reasonably priced as well.
This is our "go to" Chinese food joint in Oakville - if you want basic North American style Chinese food this is the place - nothing fancy but solid, delivered on time, food.
We had a craving for your basic "fake" Chinese food, and wanted to dine in, for a change. Encouraged by good reviews here we decided to try OG.
The place was bright, not fancy, but very neat and clean.
After studying the menu combinations we decided the standard dinner for five would cover all bases -- soup, egg rolls, chicken balls, ribs -- that kind of thing. However, the friendly waitress told us that was probably too much food, and we'd be better off with dinner for four and just making substitutions. Wow. When was the last time you were encouraged to do that? Cheaper too.
The food came promptly and was just perfect. Hot, fresh and tasty. Best egg rolls ever. Meaty lean ribs were in a class by themselves.
I'd highly recommend OG if you're looking for good "old-fashioned" Chinese food.
I went there and tried the buffet. To call their selection poor would be an understatement. The Buffet offers very limited selection and the place is filthy - sit near the window and look on the walls and the window ledge and you'll see a lack of hygienne that would make even hobo blush.
I did not try their menu items, and have heard good things. Their buffet was not good.

I have been a regular customer for twenty years. This family run restaurant is outstanding. The first thing I ever ordered was the Pu Pu platter and it is still outstanding. Great food ALWAYS, and the family are wonderful folks. I have been telling the owner for 20 years that he has the best egg rolls I have ever tasted. Try the food once and you will never go to another Chinese rest. again. Thanks Oaks Garden for great food and great memories.
Surprisely, never had a Canadian style Chinese food that good! Unfortunatly the atmosphere is still sitting the 80's style but you can't beat the price.

We've lived in Oakville for 20 years and we order Chinese perhaps twice a month. Consistently great food, always hot and delivered quickly. We have ordered from other Chinese restaurants just to try them, but always return to Oaks Garden because in our opinion, it's the best!!!

I found this restaurant from this site, it only had one review but I figured I'd give it a shot.
The rice was surprisingly fluffy, the beef was spicy and everything was HOT and flavorful when I picked it up. I will definitely be ordering from there again.
