Five of my girlfriends and I decided to try out Woody's for dinner and cocktails as it came highly recommended by one of our foodie friends. We were promptly greeted at the door by a friendly server who showed us to our candlelit table beside a fireplace. My friends and I each decided to order a different cocktail or martini and try a few sips of each - my favourites were the Woody's Caesar and Dream Soda. For dinner I tried the dinner special - a generous half rack of pork side ribs with jalapeno apple bbq sauce, homemade creamed corn, mashed potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit, it fell away from the bone effortlessly and was cooked to perfection. I also had a bite of the sliders that my friend had been raving about and the combination of carmelized onion and brie cheese was delicious! We all had plans to go out to another spot after, but were having so much fun at Woody's that we decided to stay. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this pub to anyone in the future.

Great 'Modern' Pub!

Woody's has come a long way over the last 2 years when it changed ownership. The 'pub' food menu has some good variety, and often has daily specials, too. Loved the Woody's Burger, wings, butter chicken curry, and so on. Pretty good beer selection including some micro brewery draughts that are less common. They open up the big windows facing Elgin Street when the weather is warm, plus they have a huge back patio as well. When the weather is cold they fire up their 2 fireplaces. Very handy after skating on the canal! They call it an 'urban' pub as they do have live DJ's, Karaoke and special events throughout the week which makes it feel a lot less drab than a regular pub!!

never going back

I went there for breakfast with my boyfriend on a beautiful Sunday morning. The place was empty except for one other couple. During the time we were there, two other couples came in and left. The waitress dumped the menus on our table without saying "hello". Took ten minutes to take our order. Never once came to our table to ask if everything was okay, did we need anything, more water, more coffee? Nothing. When we finished we waited another 10-15 minutes for her to clear our plates. Again, nothing. We waited some more and my boyfriend had to call her over to ask for the bill. More waiting... when she finally brought the bill there wasn't even a "thank you". I asked to speak with the manager. She wanted to know why. I told her that her service was atrociious and her response was "I'm sorry, but nobody has ever told me THAT. Maybe I was busy with the girls". I have no idea what that was supposed to mean, but I can assure you that I will never be going back there again!
