Certainly not Thai cuisine. It was more Chinese. The sambar shrimps with vegetables was the same as the mixed vegetable dish minus the shrimps. No spice, very bland.
Forgot to give us one dish, just as well. Chili chicken was not up to par.
Very disappointed. Will not go back.
Yet again, WagJag has dragged me to a new restaurant. Thai Orchid is located in a plaza with the Lobster House. Not to worry, this story has a happy ending.
My mother and I went for lunch and like most restaurants, they have a separate lunch menu. Our server said we couldn't use the voucher for the lunch menu, only the dinner menu. I can understand why. The voucher was for $20 and the prices are so low on the lunch menu, it would've been free. Not that the dinner menu was pricy, dishes barely over $10.
I ordered Yellow Beef Curry with Coconut Rice and my mom chose Curry Ayam(mild curry chicken, salad and rice). I'd never had coconut rice before, but it was yummy; almost too sweet. The yellow curry was perfect and the beef very tender. My mom loved the chicken curry. Not too spicy and loaded with flavour. We both took doggy bags home which made for a delicious lunch the next day.
It was empty when we arrived, but we just beat the lunch rush. It became busier with customers dining in and picking up take out orders; always a good sign! It's not a large space, but it is intricately decorated in rich colours. I enjoyed that we were not all crammed in like sardines.
Not that great. The menu is basic and the food isn't terribly memorable. Overall, I wasn't too impressed although I have heard good things about this place. Good location but parking can be a hassle as there are lots of other stores in the mall there. There are definitely better Thai restaurants in town.
My family and I have been going to Thai Orchid since about two or three years ago...which, if you haven't hinted in, that means we LOVE it. Every time we go there, our waitress serves us with an amazingly large smile. The service is amazing. She remembers us even if we haven't been there in a while. (She's memorized each person's meal and appetizer)

But it's not just the service that great, when you actually receive the food...there's no words to explain how...how...how AWESOME the food is. It's just melting on my tongue. I want to go there every day. :)
Overall, an amazing restaurant
Thai Orchid has become a favourite place for my daughters and me to dine whenever craving thai food. We are always served with a smile and the waitress knows our orders and asks if we are ordering "the usual" which makes us feel welcomed and appreciated. This is not a high end fine dining place and it does not pretend to be that. The young people who work there are down to earth, friendly and make sure their food is tasty and well prepared, fresh and served well. We love their calamari, but they need to increase the portion of the sauce that they serve with it - we always run out. The guys are always quick to bring you more, :o) My daughters love the Buddha fountain for the belly. They also have take-out, but we feel at home in the resto and never do the take-out. Great little every day kind of place.
Great food ! If you are looking for good food with a reasonable price for a family, this is the place! We enjoyed the Pad Thai and Crispy Beef. Not sure why some people didn't like them. It was fresh and prepared to our specification. We will surely go back!
One of the best thai place in Pickering. The ambience is very homely and comfortable. Food tasted so fresh and delicious, especially the salad. It is to die for ymmmmmmm. Quite friendly staff. Better make reservation during weekends cos the place was packed during peak hours and people waiting for take-outs too. I would certainly recommend to anyone opting for thai food. Very extensive Menu and everthing looks mouth-watering.
You know when you always order the same dishes because they are your very favorites and you're scared to order anything else because they may not be as good? ...Well that's how I feel about the food at Thai Orchid. We always get the same ones because they're soooo good!

I must agree with previous comments with service, being very slow during non-peak times. A lot faster during busier time. Overall food is very good, clean, and I find it very health. Most Thai restaurants I find serve rice dishes wet. Not here! The rice is well cooked, and not sticky. Its a must try restaurant. You won't be disappointed. Believe me. I'm very picky. You will like.
I love this restaurant. I've tried a lot of different thai restaurants, but this one is amazing. I'd definitely recommend it - especially the peanut curry chicken...mmmmmmmmmm...so good
We tried so many Thai restaurants so far this place is the best! Food was authentic and did'nt taste artificial or Chinese. Food was cooked to our specification, not too spicy and my kids loved it! Prices are most reasonable compared to other Thai. Great place for family, not too small but cozy with nice decor. Last but not least, staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back and recommend to anyone!

I have been going to Thai Ordchid for a year and...
I have been going to Thai Ordchid for a year and a half and the food is excellent. I have tried other thai restaurants that say they are top rated but are not at all nearly as good or as tasty as Thai Orchid. The food that you order at Thai Orchid does not taste artifical like some of the other Thai restaurants in the area.
I am very happy and I will always go back.
