Nobo created probably the best contemporary Japanese fusion restaurants in all of Toronto. from the starter, drink, to even the dessert - a must try experience. Even the location is a blend of Japanese reliance on word of mouth in a indescreet area If you can call Caddys as a Canadian landmark. Try the Pizza. She even uses the Tatami server.

great little sushi place

Had lunch there and the sushi was very good. Portions are a bit on the small side but the quality is much better than normal. The location is a bit odd and you have to make sure you have reservations as the place is usually packed.

STELLAR Authentic Sushi

My boyfriend introduced me to Zen over a year ago telling me it is the best sushi restaurant in town. I was skeptical before arriving, as being of Japanese descent, I have had excellent sushi before. We had omakase the first time he took me here and I was floored by the richness in the taste and quality of fish they have here. The secret is also in the texture of the sushi rice and they have mastered it all. I was extremely impressed and we went back the next day for lunch upon my suggestion. It is that good. The restaurant is always packed on the weekends, so remember to get a reservation. Our favorites here now include their saba no matsumae, toro nigiri, and yellowtail temaki (which is served on high quality seaweed or 'nori' straight from Japan) and my boyfriend loves their uni nigiri. We've also had their ottoro, natto, suzuki, futomaki and sukiyaki. For dessert, we divulge in their homemade mandarin pie, which Chef Seiichi's wife makes from scratch. I cannot say this about all sushi restaurants, however Zen's quality of nigiri and fish is consistently excellent each and every time we visit, and that says a lot of a fine sushi restaurant. You pay for the food and service you get anywhere you go, and I am happy paying more for top quality and friendly service. We also came here during lunch (always busy) on a couple of occasions, and I must say--their chirashi item is the best deal on their lunch menu. For only $13, you get a large assortment of sashimi over sushi rice, salad (and drizzled with their own Japanese style dressing) and udon (simmered in tempura batter pieces for added flavour and texture, spinach and enoki). They could easily raise their price on this item to over $25, but they haven't. My boyfriend has had their nigiri special (9 pieces of nigiri (chef's choice). No 'Chushi' (Chinese Sushi) or 'Kushi' (Korean Sushi) here. There is a supermarket one block down if you prefer not to eat authentic sushi.
