Bakingsoda Steak House

Food is decent but not worth the price. There are many more Chinese-Western style restaurants that have a better selection menu where the price reflects the quality, and taste better. Tenderizing your steak with baking soda is a JOKE and it gave the beef a disgusting taste to it. The cream of mushroom soup was subpar--its bland taste did nothing for my pallet and where was the mushroom? The "russian borscht" was nothing more than Campbell's tomato soup with large pieces of vegetables inside. The chicken with tomato sauce was a joke, why be stingy with the chicken by cutting it up in small cubes and spreading it around on top the rice and filling in the gaps with fillers such as cheap frozen vegetables and sauce? I do not want to even talk about the beef curry but I have to. The beef curry included small pieces of beef that had the same consistency of rubber due to the ridiculously high amount of baking soda used. The curry sauce had a gritty feel to it and reminded me of poorly mixed package of instant curry cut that was "enhanced" with more ginger. The HK milk tea was good--it would be embarrassing if they some how managed to screwed that up. The pop was actually the best thing! A competitive .75 cents! Filet Mignon- $17 Chicken with tomato sauce - 12 Beef Curry - 7 By the way. TIP IS NOT MANDATORY. I give tip based on service but mostly based on FOOD at Chinese places because I know the tip is spread to the chefs (which I totally agree with). It does not take much skill to stand next to our table and take our order, I'm sorry but that's a monkey job and you really should not have the audacity to ask for more tip. You want more tip? -Try waiting a few moments before putting the sizzling hotplate of steak in front of your customers right after you pour the sauce over it! Thanks for the splatter of oil! -Tell us the soup of the day! Show some effort. -Give me my appetizer before my main course -Ask us how our meal was. To sum it all up: This place offers the usual Chinese service and quality of food masked by fancy dish names for a ridiculous higher than average price. Will not go again.

We've been here several times and it's been good every time. They have a selection of daily specials, where you get soup, a hot bun, appetizer, the main course, desert and coffee or tea ... all for between $12-$19. The place is usually almost empty, I'm not sure why! But the food is good and you get a lot for your money!
