Nice Pub

This place is located in Brunswick St. half a block from City Hall. This was once the location of the iconic Rheo Thompson candy store. Molly Bloom's doesn't sell candy though and certainly has a different look inside. Entering leaves you standing almost right at the bar. The front room has booths along the front windows and tables in a large area that can be cleared for darts, entertainment or in some cases when we have gone in just plain cleared for no apparent reason. The bar seems smallish for Irish twist this place plays up on. A small forest was cut down doing the interior. It gives it a cozy but quaint feel. The back room has a few booths but mostly tables. A faux fireplace is on one wall as well as the usual flat panel TV's. We have eaten here several times in the past year and always come away feeling satisfied. This is not high end food and drink. But the food and drink they do serve is consistantly good. The menu has changed since our last visit and I think the change was for the better. A nicer variety and more up-dated food offerings. We ordered their onion rings (OR) as a starter to share last night. My biggest complaint with OR in many places is that for a rediculous price you get 5 or 6 rings. Not here....the price matched the quantity. They serve them with a BBQ sauce and that seems to be a trend these days. I wish they would stop this trend....ranch dressing to dip them in is so much better. Our waitress brought both. Kilkenny and Corona where the drinks and you can't go far wrong with those. For our main course we both ordered the Chicken club sandwich with fries. Not sure what it is they do to their fries but they are very good. Flavourful, dark golden brown and plentiful on the plate. The chicken club has to count as one of the best versions of that sandwich I have ever had. On toasted Brown bread, the chicken was a moist, thick, solid piece of breast meat. The bacon was real and there was lots of it. The lettuce and tomatos were fresh. Top notch sandwich. Service, as it has been in the past, was nicely done. They have live entertainment on the weekends and although we have not been for that we have heard it can be pretty good. This is a good place for a casual meal.

This place just seems dirty

It takes a while to get a server to your table. We actually left one-time as we had sat there for 15 minutes with no service while the waitress carried on a conversation with the men sitting at the bar. But back to the last time. The food is only passable and the table and condiments and bench seats could certainly use a clean. The restaurant has quite a few barflies that always seem to be there as well as the bother of walking through a haze of smokers to get into the building. Personally I now give this place a pass. It is getting seedy.

I have gotten this many times, and it is always...

I have gotten this many times, and it is always delicious. Its like a chicken ceaser wrap. Only one time they messed up my order, but was still good. I have had their steak (on thursdays the time you order, is the amount you pay). Their blarny burger and bangers and mash...all the time everything was yummy, and the people were nice. Would go back again!
