A huge disappointment, especially for the price...

A huge disappointment, especially for the price. The salad was excellent, as was the service and ambiance. However I expected that if a restaurant of this supposed calibre put something like chicken curry on its menue that it would be inventive and tasty, rather than mediocre, and signifiantly inferior to what I can get in many much less expensive Indian restaurants, and in no way compares to what one might get at a good Indian restaurant in New York or London. It was attractively served but that is all one can say for it. And no one, neither maitre d' nor server (a high school student), asked me whether I enjoyed either course, which suggests they too knew the meal wasn't good enough or else did not care. I was glad this was a scouting trip for a much larger dinner with others. Needless to say I did not and will not return.

The amuse bouche was excellent, could have been a full appetizer. The appetizer of the smoked trout tower was a little confusing in flavour. The duck confit was perfect, but the broth that came with and the sausage (which seemed very out of place) was heavy and I thought more suited to an autumn menu rather than a summer menu. The dessert of cheese was excellent, except it was cheese with two small slices of nutty bread. Most plates provide some fruit etc. to give your palate a break between tastings of cheese so that you can appreciate each cheese type. I found that most of the meal lacked spark. The service was good - too good - there were too many servers. The wait station where the servers would congregate or get water from looked like a clown car - more servers packed in than you would expect, and then they would all come pouring out at once. My water never dipped below 1/4 full which is great since all I was drinking was water, but at the same time, it was not conducive to conversation as you had someone at the table every 7 minutes or so. The room size was also quite small, and I felt as though I was being watched by the wait staff every second, as well as being watched by the other dinner guests. I had very high expectations from this restaurant, and frankly, it did not meet or exceed my expectations.
