We made reservations that were not received by the restaurant so when we arrived there was no reserved location. It took well over an hour between orders and receiving the food. Given that this was a business dinner prior to an event in the community where the entire group of 12 needed to be, it was very disappointing. Due to the restaurant's unpreparedness, we received our bills before some of us even received our food. Overall it felt rushed and we could not enjoy our food. As we got up to go, we were offered a drink on the house that not one person was able to actually order because there was no time. Disappointing.

A gem of a restaurant in the Corktown area. Simply superb food. Ironically the pizza was not as good as the other dishes. The pizza was still fantastic, but the homemade potato gnocchi was perfection! We will definitely be going back.

For a party of 6, the food showed up at weird intervals, pizza before appetizers, some appetizers coming after the main course. The presentation of the food was sloppy, ordered bruschetta had no tomatoes on top, but were all over the plate, meatball appetizer showed up at the same time as dessert. The meal was absolutely botched and the owner or manager did little to nothing to acknowledge or fix this. Shameful. Even after we expressed what had gone wrong during this meal. Horrible service, zero respect for their clientele and the food was not good.

Made a reservation and was sat at the bar type thing that was facing the window. It was hard to have a good conversation with my friend. As well the staff seemed to constantly forget that we were there and our food took forever. We were there at 615 but did not leave until about 830. There were 4 staff members working that night and it was not nearly busy enough to have that poor of service. Coming from another waitress this means a lot. As well the food was only mediocre. The bruschetta I ordered as my appetizer came on a hamburger bun that had been quickly thrown on the grill to give it char marks (which only made it taste burnt). On the menu it states that it comes on a pizza crust crostini, which I can assure you it was not. Overall not a great experience.

Can't actually comment on the food as we didn't get the chance to eat. Instead we spent 20$ on a cab there, and then 20$ home when we found out that our table had been given away. To be clear - we had reservations. When we walked in the server was clearly expecting us and knew that we'd be disappointed with the pea-sized table that he tried to seat us at. We won't be going back and you should have reimbursed us for our cab.

Upon arrival, they told me they did not have a table for us but we could sit at the bar.... despite having a reservation. This was more or less foreshadowing for the rest of the evening. We went for Winterlicious. I had the grilled calamari, chicken gnocchi, and bread pudding. The calamari was horribly overcooked and rubbery.. I literally got one regular size ring, sliced in into 3. The chicken in the gnocchi was under-seasoned and the gnocchi itself wasn't great either. My bread pudding was so dry and the little cream they did put on it was not helping the situation. All in all I will not be going back again. It was however very toasty warm by the pizza oven which was nice because it was very cold outside. The bathrooms were also very clean, which I appreciated.

This may have been my worst dining experience. From entering the restaurant the server was flustered as to where to seat us (many tables were available). The restaurant also had poor circulation considering there was a wood burning oven on the premises that made the air very smokey. We had to ask twice for a drink menu. My menu came to the table without any of the inserts in there (an empty drink menu). Everything was a waiting game at Basso. I ordered the meatball from the Winterlicious menu and it was quite spicy, although no spice was mentioned in the menu description. We had to wait and ask several times for water, to order and the topping on the cake was my main dinner (a margarita pizza) came half an hour after the rest of my parties dinners were served. They were done their meals when my pizza arrived. Dessert was the worst part of the meal. We all ordered something different to try. I've never had a worst cannoli in my life, the fried ice cream was burnt due to old oil (which was also evident in the veal parmasian meal someone at my table ordered) and the bread pudding was just gross. I will never return to this restaurant nor do I recommend it to anyone. Save your money!

My wife is extremely allergic to Chocolate. We asked the server 3 times to ensure there are no chocolate in the dessert and she assured us that there would be no chocolate. She even suggested the ice cream dessert that has no chocolate so my wife was convinced. The dessert came covered with cream which was nice. One bite into it, the ice cream was CHOCOLATE ice cream. She had to spit it out. The server apologized but it was too late. She was on Benadryl all night. The server then said that the drinks would be free. But when the bill came, the drinks was not free and she backed tracked and said the best she can do is 10% off. Too bad, we had such hope for your restaurant. Never again. We don't want to be killed.
