Meet the owner

DaiLo Restaurant is a combination of great things: friendly, helpful people, great food and original drinks, all under one roof. DaiLo opened as a result of co-workers and friends wanting to try something new. “Our head chef, Nick Liu, and I worked together at another restaurant,” recalls Anton Potvin, a partner and general manager at DaiLo. “And we wanted to pursue something that really played to Nick’s background and strengths. So we ended up opening our own place.”

Nick and Anton teamed up with their colleagues David Dattels and Jennifer Grant and, together, they’ve taken a new approach to the Chinese restaurant business. “We all found each other through various circumstances and realized we all wanted a similar thing,” Anton says. “That is, a place with exceptional service and welcoming decor, but a restaurant that’s doing something entirely new and different with Chinese food.”

Head chef Nick Liu will bring Asian flavours to COCHON 555’s Heritage BBQ event on Friday night. The lively feast is an all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink affair where five top chefs engage in a friendly battle whereby they create mouth-watering nose-to-tail pork dishes. Liu is perhaps best known for his fusion fare and his masterful dish will no doubt filter your assumptions about all-American BBQ through an international lens.
