The evolution of GLOW began with Pickle Barrel's vision to create a unique restaurant that would offer diners healthier food options and Rose Reisman's philosophy of a healthy, balanced lifestyle that includes eating well and reconnecting with friends and family over a relaxed meal. This was my 2nd time at Glow and I do admit the first time I was happy with my experience but it was on a weekend. This visit was on a Wednesday and the staff did not have any smiles on their faces so it was odd as if they'd rather we went away. Our waiter was a bit over eager and never far from the table, this is great for some people but I found it annoying. I ordered the salmon and it was so bland I could have been eating at Northyork General. I had to ask the waiter for lemon as I found it needed a citrus splash, the accompaniment was steamed edamame and corn without any dressing. This dish needed a serious wake up call. A lemon hollandaise would have made this. My friends ordered the stir fry and shrimp pasta dish and neither of them could finish their dishes either, I tasted them both...it all tasted the same - BLAND. The dessert however was lovely and the coffee fantastic. I however will not be returning. I was so dissapointed to pay 45.00 for something I can make 10 times better and trust me I am no chef.
This restaurant is amazing! The place looks great, and getting a table wasn't a problem at all. The servers were very nice and made themselves useful. The best part was, there was a live jazz band! How amazing is that? The food here was very good, I had the lamb shank and for dessert, I had the seasonal warm fruit crumble, which were both very delicious. Overall, a really great place with amazing food and service.
OK THIS PICKLE BAREL IS DONE FOR ME,TVO DAYS AFTER THAT I DESIDE TO GO TO ANOTHER PLACE CALLED GLOW AT DON MILLS &LAWRENCE SAME CORPORATION IS UNDER PICKLE BARREL,WE WENT FOR DINNER AND THE SERVER SAME STORY ,WE DESIDE NOT TO EAT THERE WE JUST HADE ONE GLASS OF WINE THE SERVER CAME TO US AND SUGGESTED THAT THERE ARE SOME BURGER PLACES IN THIS AREA,WE ASK HER FOR THE BILL AND SHE CHARGED US FOR 3 DRINKS INSTED OF 2.
IN MY OPINION THE SERVERS WHEN THEY SEE NEW CUSTOMERS THEY SHOULD MAKE THEM CONFUTABLE AND HELP FOR THEIR NEEDS AND NOT TELLING THEM GO AND EAT BURGERS.ALSO THE MENU EACH DISH WAS WITH MUSHROOMS,NOT TO MANY CHOICES.
I took my family here for dinner and we all loved it. The place looked great and the atmosphere was very lively. My wife and I were very happy with the service and how the waiters took care of the kids. The food was delicious and came very quickly compared to your average restaurant. I was very pleased that they had an outstanding menu for children, which consisted of very unique delicious dishes. Overall, a very good restaurant.
Went here a couple of days ago for dinner with some friends and got a table within five minutes of our arrival. The inside of the restaurant looked really well done, which lived up to my expectations of a fine dining restaurant in terms of decor. To start, I ordered the crab cakes with water to drink. As for the main course, I had the thai seafood bowl, which sounded delectable and tasted even more so. After, the main course came dessert and I chose to have the fruit plate , which also was delicious. Personally, I enjoyed this restaurant, as did all my friends and we all plan on coming back here. A great place, with great food, who can say no to that?
I came here with my father, for a guys night out, since we both prefer fine dining over the "wings, beer, and hockey" sort of evening. We shared a quesadilla as our starter, and I had a merlot wine to drink. For my main course, I had the pasta primavera and my father had the veal scallopini. We both really enjoyed our meals, which came soon after our appetizer. For dessert, we shared the gourmet cheese board, which was the perfect finish to a perfect meal. On the service side, they periodically checked on us to see if we needed anything else, which was good since they gave us some space, but also made sure our stay was pleasant. Overall, a wonderful place and I really look forward to coming back here.
I came here for lunch once, and really enjoyed the food and the service. The place was well decorated with welcoming waiters and a very short wait time for a seat. My server was very helpful and tried to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. I ordered the mediterranean burger along with a torrentes to drink. I didn't order a dessert, but i'm sure it would have been great. All in all, this is a great place and plan to bring my family here for our next outing.
I took my parents here twice and we all enjoyed ourselves both times. The second time we went, the servers are very kind and welcoming, which my parents liked a lot. The wait time wasn't that long, probably just five or seven minutes, as it was a relatively busy day. The food was amazing, we all shared a teriyaki salmon and a shrimp pesto linguine. We aren't that big on wine, so we just had water and for dessert we shared a biscotti plate, which really brought the meal together. Overall, a great place to go and enjoy!
The place looked really well decorated and had a very positive ambience. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed myself there. It's a great place to have dinner and I think everyone should go there and try out their tasty food!
I went there the other day, just for a relaxing lunch, and found it to be really great. The lounge was a very comfortable place to just relax and enjoy your visit here. The atmosphere was very energetic, which I liked, and the servers were polite and did their job with a smile on their faces. In terms of food, I ordered the beef tenderloin stir fry and never had anything like it. Personally, I’m not a fan of wine, so I just had a soda to drink, along with a side of grilled asparagus. For dessert, I prefer something fruity after a good meal, so I had the seasonal warm fruit crumble and it was a whimsical dish, which I will have again when I go back. Great service and atmosphere, with an amazing menu, this restaurant is really worth visiting.
I took my girlfriend here for the first time and neither of us knew what to expect. She was really excited to go out and I wasn't sure if this restaurant was the greatest. When we got in, it was a shock to both of us that a restaurant could look this good! Our server was great and really tried to make us feel welcome, my girlfriend and I enjoyed this a lot. The food was great, we shared a lamb shank so that we had room for dessert, which turned out to be the fruit plate. The food came quickly and even though I did not book a reservation, it wasn't a long wait to get a table. I had a wonderful time with my girlfriend and hope to go back soon!
I heard so much hype from people prior to going here. I work just down the street & decided to try it out on a Thursday evening. I really like the atmosphere with all the lights & enjoyed the lay out as well. This restaurant boasts on their healthy yet tasty menu options. I had grilled calamari which was really good & for my main coarse I had their "bunless Burger". I was expecting much more more for 21.00. It was basically a small beef patty with a little green on the side. I mean I could went down the street to the fast food joint & got a better deal. Our server was really nice, but a little too chatty for my liking. Don't get me, I don't mind a little small talk here & there, but she just kept talking about how she was from out east & how different life's here in the big city. That had an affect on the overall service because she was more interested in shooting the breeze than doing her job. Overall I would skip this place for a serious meal. It's ok for apps & drinks but their food is just not worth it.
Friday night, no reservation, but seated promptly at 7:00 as we walked in the door. Crab cakes were fine, mushroom salad ok, but the most outstanding part of the meal was the special. Ahi tuna done sushi rare, and pan seared scallops on a bed of tomato, olives and white bean ragu. Very good. Waiter friendly and informative.
I probably should have written this sooner after visiting there. My memory is a tad foggy, so i'll keep my comments very general.
The restaurant was very busy on the Friday night we went (Month ago). I got the impression it was always like this, especially on weekends. We didn't make a reservation, so we had wine at the bar (They had wine menus).
Shortly thereafter we were seated at a table close to the patio doors.
It's a very nice restaurant. Loved the changing ceiling light colours. Gave the place a warm feeling. It was chilly that night, and people were still on the patio under the heating lamps.
Appetizers came in good time. Entrees came in good time. The desserts came in a selection of mousses and cakes with cream, etc.. They were in glasses slightly bigger than shot glasses.
We chose two, and they were very nice. Maybe a tad pricey for the size of the dessert.
Service was excellent and attentive. Our server was very helpful and quite funny.
Will definitely go back and sit on the patio. Perhaps when summer rolls around.
