Service going down the drain!

I went to this restaurant a year ago with my family and the service was very good; so a week ago I recommended the place to my manager and a colleague for a business dinner, only to find the service and the attitude of the servers to be very poor. The first time the place was not busy at all, where this time it was almost full, and it seems like the servers allowed themselves to be rude and ignorant because they could not handle a full restaurant. There was also a manager or owner on site that not once came to our table to ask us if we were happy or were being served properly or not. It was a shame and I was embarrassed for recommending the place.

Food was so-so. The salmon from the appetizer was overpowered by lime juice, my entree (the lamb) was tender but too charred, the fruit sorbet was refreshing but the chocolate banana cake was overwhelmingly sweet. Service was terrible. With plenty of tables available, we still needed to wait quite a while to be seated. Our water glasses were not filled until the end of our meal when we asked for more water. The server also reminded us numerous times that our bill did not cover tip. Maybe their regular menu might taste better...but their service that day was subpar. Given that we were there for the $20 winterlicious menu but that attitude given by our server was no excuse.

Great food, great service! The place was packed at the time, and I couldn't keep my friend from telling me - uncontrollably loud - how good her calamari was. I always use Il Posto when I want to impress friends and family, and it never fails.

food was good overall. Service very slow, no sense of urgency. Owner entertaining one table all night with little regard for other tables or what was happening in his restaurant.
