Next best thing to Julia Child and a trip to France!

Spouse and self frequently eat out in Toronto and the GTA and dinner here was by far the best I've had in a very long time (.... enjoyed 10 years as a professional restaurant reviewer and I try to avoid becoming 'jaded' by run-of-the-mill restaurant outings). The decor, atmosphere, friendly and enthusiastic staff, excellent service and above all, the truly wonderful meal, far exceeded expectations and brought back culinary memories of past holidays in France. The 'Gesiers' salad of warm chicken gesiers, duck confit and lardons served on arugula with diced apples, was spectacular in its rustic simplicity of taste..... The special-- veal liver--was generous in portion, so juicy and fork tender and I appreciated that we were asked how we preferred it to be cooked as well. Accompanying frites, broccoflower and just-right sauce were perfection--a large creme caramel for dessert, delightful. Ample syrup with the creme caramel was devoured in big decadent spoonfuls. We are sadly accustomed to paying almost entree level prices for desserts these days, but not here. I've never had a simple decaf coffee with so much flavour. All came very reasonably priced. While seating can be a tad cramped, it just does not matter in the end--and the place was full. We will definitely return and have put Le Paradis right at the top of our 'fave' list. Thank you for a superb meal. Julia Child would have loved it!

The tables are a little tight, but I suppose it's part of the atmosphere. After I'd paid for parking, I walked to the restaurant to see a sign that directs patrons to a cheaper flat rate parking! Argh, please put that information on your website!!! The food was delicious and very reasonable. I don't think there was anything over $17.00 on the menu My soup was good, but a bit underseasoned. The pate au campagne was quite good. The skate was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked. The cassoulet was also very well done, the duck was falling apart. Finally, the marquise au chocolate was dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts and it was delicious, although I found the portion a bit small. Overall, excellent!

Hidden Gem

Food is always amazing! The duck and the frites here are probably the best in Toronto. The only critic I have is that I often get snobby servers.
