Meet the owner

Anyone who’s ever been to Paris knows the decadence of a good cup of drinking chocolate. It’s not a hot chocolate as most customers with a North American palette might assume. It’s pure chocolate melted for sipping pleasure  - a rich, velvety treat you normally wouldn’t get this side of the map. Luckily, you can enjoy it without a passport at MoRoCo Chocolat.

High-end yet affordable chocolates are the driving force behind this Yorkville restaurant and boutique. “We focus on quality chocolates and experiences you wouldn't get from somewhere else,” says marketing manager Tracy Somerville. “So we add a whimsical Parisian flair to things.”

Having received a recommendation to try this place out, I reached out to book a reservation (through Bookenda which was okay) but also left a voice message at the place AND sent two email messages all asking for the same thing; for someone to call me as this was a VERY special guest that was coming into town and i wanted to create a memorable experience. All three of my requests were ignored! Not a single response, even just to say they could not help me! We fulfilled our reservation and showed up on time. The service was certainly friendly and respectful but the menu was difficult to navigate as a first time visitor and we asked TWO different servers for help in selecting something. They both said the "chicken and waffles"and despite us stating after the first one that we would not really want that they offered no further help! We had our sipping chocolate which was a little treat and effort made to make it look all fancy, but at those prices I would melt my own chocolate and have a better experience! I seldom ever write a review and if MoRoCo had not sent me this request I would have simply walked away, but you get what you ask for! So, unless you are taking 8 year olds or your great granny, I would not suggest this place meets the Yorkville OR experience standard!

Amazing dining experience. The Afternoon Tea was delightful, with plenty of tea choices and the scones are to die for. Thanks so much for the good times!

Very dispointed with their service. My server seemed unwilling talk to us with a smile. I didn't believe her service deserves a 18% tips. But the 18% tips was mandatory.

Terrible Service. Got there and their hours of service had changed. We even received a reminder on the reservation from BookEndA. Ended up having to go somewhere else for lunch. I called them back in the evening to talk to the manager about the mix up and their lack of communication through the process. The manager Monica proceeded to blame BookEndA for the lack of competence. Told me that BookEndA was supposed to be responsible for informing me of their change of hours. Never once did they take ownership for the mix up or try to make a right a wrong. Told me there was nothing they could do and it was all of BookEndA's fault. Will never go there again. Asked if there was something they could do to repair and told me no not at this point in time and she would have to speak with the owner. Nothing but disappointment from a Yorkville location.

everything was great, except a party of 2 gratuity of 18.5% is extremely high and was not expecting that and it was not disclosed, as fat as i know gratuity is automatically added for party of 6 and more not 2ppl

I requested a seat on the patio but when I got there it was under construction. Would have been nice if someone had contacted me to say there was no patio available. Restaurant was empty at 12 which was a little strange. Food was good.

I was there for tea and although the tea itself was delicious, the food was less than perfect. The finger sandwiches were OK, four varieties, one of which was egg salad, one ham and cheese, one mushroom and one avocado. The scones were rather dry, although the accompaniments were good. There were several dessert offerings, but I only tried the cheesecake, which was very tasty. The setting is very cosy and the service was very attentive, a highlight.

Good was great and restaurant was beautiful but getting the waitresses attention was next to impossible and actually became quite comical- this was not because they were busy serving but rather just not paying attention.

Had High Tea, absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere. Asked waiter to change the location of our table to the quiet corner, it was done in seconds. Really nice stuff. Food delicious. Bought macarons on way out. The Cassis is THE BEST flavour! Definitely will come back!

Server brought bill before we had a chance to order coffee. We were there for a birthday celebration - had to tell him, even though mentioned it when made reservation and again with hostess. Food just ok - overpriced for what we got - would not rush back.

Horrible service, with dirty cups (tea cup stuck to the plate- server didn't even apologize) 18.5% gratuity mandatory -included on the bill for 2 people. Cold food, no sequence of food being brought out. WAY overpriced. All in all would never go back!

We really enjoy our first time at MoRoCo Chocolat. Our waiter was very accommodating with my food allergies and he made us comfortable in a new and different atmosphere. It was not intimidating what-so-ever and the food was delicious! 100% will return! Thank you! :)

Had the afternoon tea for two, food was ok. I still like Moroco better for the macarons and tea, but the afternoon tea sandwiches need an upgrade. Mac & cheese was pretty good. Service was good this time, not always, needs consistency.

Horrible service, our reservation was for 1pm our food didn't come until 2pm. They took out our dessert even before our food was bought out. The dessert we had was not worth the money. We had a $18 Meltteaser. There was suppose to be chocolate ice cream inside but it all melted into a puddle of chocolate. Will not go back to the restaurant, the place is totally overrated.

Decided to try tea service after coming twice for lunch and receiving great service and delicious meals. The tea service was an utter disappointment. The food was inedible, we left most of it uneaten. Service was inattentive and unkind when we pointed out that part of sandwich was lacking a portion. Definitely not worth it for tea service even with the groupon offer.

Sandwhiches to small 2 adults and one child for afternoon tea was $200 bit pricey for what you get. Told the staff it was the little girls birthday they didn't even do anything Music way to loud could hardly make conversation

Nice place. Charges on the bill was the unexpected surprise. Was charged 18.5% gratuity for 2 people and an additional charge for a tea type that was unexpected. Had to wait a while to pay bill. Server was really good. Champagne could have been more chilled. It was a nice experience overall though.

we were seated right away. However, we waited for 15min but no one greeted us, not even with a glass of water until we asked for it. We just don't think the service worth 18% gratuity which has been AUTOMATICALLY added in the bill.

One of the worst experiences I've had in general. Specifically, we went for their afternoon high tea service as a family. The food was served cold, dry and without care. Server didn't remember to bring basics like sugar and cream, and we had to ask for specific parts of the tea service. Perhaps it's that we are not their target audience, or that they don't know how to conduct tea service. Basics like checking on customer for their needs regularly weren't followed. So the poor tea service was par for the disappointing course. We will not be returning and won't be recommending it to friends. It's a shame because the restaurant got such high praise from my wife and friends from last visit during a baby shower. My advice skip and go get a tea anywhere else, even Tim Hortons.

You’ll never fail with chocolate. But, instead of opting for the typical box of Valentine’s Day chocolates, why not try something a tad more creative and romantic? Take your sweet to MoRoCo Chocolat, a chocolate boutique and lounge restaurant. Have her, or him, choose from loads of chocolate and macaroon flavours (think chocolate marzipan truffles or salted caramel macaroons). Or, dine-in at their chic French resto. You’ll definitely want to try a treat off their First Temptation of Cocoa menu, but they also have savoury stunners (think: soup to start and mains like zucchini spaghetti or truffle mac and cheese).
