Meet the owner

Owner and operator of One Love Vegetarian, Ikeila Wright, believes that the Annex is one of the best places in the city to have a restaurant, because the whole corridor is “filled with everyone: It’s diverse, there are families, people from many different backgrounds – it’s beautiful,” she says.

One Love is meant to be a takeout place and so, the kitchen rightly dominates, taking up at least two-thirds of the visible interior. But, there is room to sit down, and the space is bright, colourful and well-lit by the windows facing Bathurst and London streets.

Ikeila has spent some time honing and refining the space over the years and making it more comfortable for guests who’d prefer to eat in, with the recent addition of a gorgeous communal table that easily sits up to eight. It contributes to the cheerful atmosphere of the restaurant in such a diverse neighbourhood. Ikeila wants to help foster a “good vibe” and prevent people from “getting lost” in the day to day in Toronto. “Maybe when you sit down at the table, you’ll talk to someone you never spoke to before,” she says.
