Meet the owner

Michelle Palmer attended an arts high school as a drama major but quickly realized that her passion lied off-stage. For her school’s annual musical performance, Michelle helped design and execute the production’s makeup. It was from there that she gained an interest in cosmetics, which led her to a freelance career as a makeup artist, not only in theatre, but for editorial projects, runways and weddings as well. Seeking a break from the industry, Michelle went into retail, until a trip to New York City changed everything. There, she had the opportunity to watch Les Misérables on Broadway. “I sat second row and cried through the whole thing,” Michelle remembers. “I realized at that moment I had to get back in that industry.”

But instead of pursuing a career in film, TV and stage, Michelle enrolled in esthetics school and graduated at the top of her class. She’s since worked in a variety of environments over the years from hotel spas to nail salons and wax bars. “People kept telling me ‘you should do your own thing! You should open your own business,’” recalls Michelle. So she did just that and launched Pause Beauty Boutique in 2013.

Fun, Relaxing and Comfort able Experience

Pause Beauty is a fantastic experience. I have always felt a little uncomfortable in beauty salons, with the rushed atmosphere and whatnot but from the moment I walked into Pause I felt right at home. Erica truly lives up to her reputation as a waxing ninja. Her clean, personable and professional service always has me leaving feeling pampered and refreshed. Let's be real waxing isn't the most glamorous of treatments, but somehow Erica manages to give me the least painful and most efficient waxing services I have ever encountered. Today Michelle threaded my eyebrows for the first time! At first I was nervous but Michelle put me at ease with her knowledge and confidence. Michelle gave me exactly what I asked for and with virtually no pain involved. I couldn't be happier! Pause really is a place where I can press the pause button on my hectic life, relax and treat myself to a much needed break. The shop itself is beautiful and with calming teas and delicious chocolates I often have to fight the urge to stay and hang out all day long. I bought a gift certificate for my mom's birthday for some mother-daughter manicures! So excited, will update with how it goes and maybe some pics!!!
