Excellent experience!!

I would give everything five stars, but was it the best ever? I can't say for sure, but it was certainly wonderful. We dined on 19 Jan 2013. I had originally booked for Winterlicious but Amy called from the restaurant to say that didn't start until the following week. We kept the reservation anyway. I noticed some reviewers said the place was pricy. Yes it is, but the combination of delicious food, soothing atmosphere and tremendously attentive service made it worth the cost. One appetizer, two meals and a $50 bottle of wine came to $138. Very much worth the price!! Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the specials and the wine list. Love the coat check, very nice touch. Will definitely come again!!

Mmmm!!

Went for a double date at the end of last year. Ordered the tagliatelle and shared a dessert with my boyfriend and the other couple. I am always a fan of creme brulee. The coffee and tea opera cake was quite decent as well. The waiter was very nice - better service than I expected actually.

Visited for winterlicious, good place if you're going during the summerlicious or winterlicious festivals. The food was presented well, and tasted ok, but it was nothing amazing. The steak was quite small, and some of the dishes were fairly simple. The best thing about the restaurant was the shrimp bisque. It was probably the most tender shrimp I've ever tasted.

For the price, you can get far better in Toronto

I did summerlicious there. Normally, the price is quite a bit higher. My drink was delicious; the berry juice, though, had a strong taste of alcohol - since we're not drinkers, this was slightly offputting. The duck confit was delicious. The cucumber soup - okay, but they only put in one sliver of the promised smoked salmon, and the mountain of creme fraiche overwhelmed the delicate soup. The salmon was beautifully done (other than one raw gnocchi - strange); the roast chicken was lukewarm, dry, and tough. I wasn't so impressed with dessert. We waited, and waited, and waited, and the waiter finally brought it just as my SO left for the washroom. The ice cream was half-melted already, so my poor SO had a pool of melty cream rather than ice cream when he returned. Service was decent, though it vacillated from near-constant attention to waiting for service at the end. The restaurant is beautiful - plenty of marble and columns that appear original to the restaurant.

Risotto was pretty decent, but as a main course, it might be a bit too little. The desert was a bit expensive at $10. Probably should have ordered the lunch special (3 course for $20 instead instead of separate main course and desert). Others in the party ordered steaks, and they liked it.
