We went here for our anniversary dinner prior to seeing a Live Theatre Show also downtown. Our time was very tight. We were seated right away. The waitress took our order quickly. We both ordered caeser salad starters, and prime rib with lobster tail dinners. The caeser salad was delicious with the right amount of dressing. Yum! My meal arrived perfectly cooked (medium) and my husband's prime rib arrived rare as he prefers it. The lobster tails were both cooked perfectly. The dipping butter was on the salty side. The side of creamed garlic potatoes was really yummy (although a bit on the rich side). I loved the decor and the high ceilings. We will definitely go back again. Well worth the price, only wish we had time for dessert..but, as they say...the show must go on!

Sub standard for the hockey crowd?

Further to eating at the Keg frequently in Calgary i have been impressed with the South Street Chain downtown. I was in Toronto this week and ate at the York St Keg a couple of times. Although the spinach salad and the twice baked potato I ordered were very good (salad had more blue cheese this time yet only a sprinkle of pecans) I was extremely dissapointed on the Rib eye steak ordered. It was ordered medium rare and came rare. At 18:30 there was not much of a crowd so a little concerned at the order was cooked too quick. More importantly there was significantly more fat on the steak (approximately double the usual amount) on this order. I understand rib eye steaks do come with more marbling, however, this was in excess. My waitress did ask was everything fine and I did mention this, she asked could she do anything about it and I politely declined as I'd started. The service was fine although they were busy.

'Quite' good think the corporate crowd is easy

Almost popped in on a wednesday evening yet the place was packed at 6pm so get a reservation. Thursday 3:30pm not a problem getting a spare space. Waitress was friendly although busy, too busy looks like she needed some assistance. Big plus she was still friendly and professional. Freshly squeezed orange juice had been preprepared, diluted a bit too much with ice. Spinach salad was good, a nice sized proportion, with cranberries, mandarian and roasted pecan nuts. The crumbled blue cheese was a bit sparce yet sufficient. Quite good, yet, been to better kegs, not serious enough points to comment to waitress. Installation and decor up to specification - relaxed atmosphere - good place for after works drinks.

Great patios in Toronto's Financial District

Great patios in Toronto's Financial District

The Keg draws a diverse crowd of business people from office towers in the surrounding area, as well as young city folk seeking out good food, good company and al fresco drinks. The patio is packed during the summertime and the environment is always fun, busy and a great place to meet people. There are plenty of regulars who come for the expertly-prepared steaks, their extensive wine and drink list and the exciting ambiance.
