Second Time is Not the Charm

I went back here yesterday for dinner. I was looking forward to it a lot since I really like it the last time I was here. I was disappointed this time. The problem with this place is they are too busy for their own good. I waited an hour for my order, which was not that large (2 brisket sandwiches, fries, coleslaw, and a half-rack of ribs). This time includes probably 15-20 minutes in line and the rest just waiting. They actually had the order "ready" almost 10 minutes before they called our name. It just sat there. When I finally got the order the coleslaw ($5) was missing. We didn't realize it was missing until we had already left the restaurant. The brisket sandwiches were delicious, the fries were not great (likely because they sat for so long and cooled off) and the ribs were tasty but kinda tough and chewy. I want to like this place but until they have more space and better organization to deal with their popularity I won't be going back. Sad.

So yummy!

I ate here the other day and it was delicious. I was with a group of friends and we managed to get seats at the bar. It is a very small place and a lot of people just seemed to be getting take-out. I really wanted to order the beef brisket sandwich but they only had enough for 1 more and we let my friend order it. I decided to get the pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork sandwich was amazing, I really liked it. I tried a bit of the brisket from my friends sandwich and it was also incredible. I will definitely be returning to this place and next time I'm not leaving without a beef brisket sandwich.

Great BBQ

A good place for your Southern BBQ fix. I stopped by after word of mouth as I am a BBQ nut and there are so few good places in the GTA to find good BBQ. Very small place not much room to sit down but the food is very good. Ribs done as they should be tender and flavorful and truly the meaning of fall of the bone. Even enjoyed the coleslaw light dressing with a nice flavor.

The Stockyards pulled pork sandwich is one of the best in the city, and for good reason. Slowly smoked over apples and oak, the pork shoulder is effortlessly tender and packed with flavour. It’s served with Stockyards BBQ sauce and house slaw.

These guys were doing BBQ back before it was trendy, and man, they do it well. While you’re welcome to tuck into a pulled pork or beef brisket sammie, it’s worth rearranging your schedule for the BBQ Ribs n’ Chicken, available only on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 5pm on.

Toronto's best sandwich spots

Toronto's best sandwich spots

This spot is smoking hot. The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches revel in slow-cooked, hickory-smoked goodness with toppings like fried green tomatoes, green apple, lemon aioli and mustard house slaw. There’s even a smoked grilled cheese sandwich for vegetarians, and the breads are good, too. How does thyme-scented sourdough sound to you? Yummy!
