Japanese deserts at mini Little Tokyo

If you're a fan of green-tea (matcha specifically) and Japanese food, this is the place. Newly opened a few months ago, Tsujiri offers sweets from basic ice-cream to mouthwatering floats with chestnut, red beans and more. Also, you will need to be patient because there's a waiting line, but it's worth at the end.

Tsujiri is a Japanese brand with over 155 years in the tea business. Expanding to Toronto, Tsujiri is now known for its matcha soft serve, floats, shaved ice and sundaes. The matcha is guaranteed to impress, with a strong, bold flavour that true green tea lovers will adore. The house specialty is the Tsujiri sundae – matcha soft serve layered with roasted rice bits, red bean paste, and mochi balls all topped with a pink cookie made with Sakura flowers.

This Japanese tea brand has opened up shop on Bay and Dundas. Their specialty is matcha – from drinks to pastries to ice cream (the desserts have three levels of flavour intensity so you can measure up the bitterness). The cute downtown spot offers soft serve and sundaes layered with crunchy roasted brown rice, red bean paste, a chestnut and chewy shiratama ball, and cherry blossom cookie. Matcha floats are also served and made with iced blended and topped with a choice of matcha or vanilla soft serve, or swirl mix of the two.
